As LLM's move beyond syntax to handle complex software engineering tasks, many have wondered “is computer science dead?” ▶️ The first panel at the 2026 #NCWITSummit addressed this: https://lnkd.in/geNdYCT6 Moving beyond the superficial “AI can code” debate, Ken Anderson (Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder College of Engineering & Applied Science), Kathryn McKinley (Distinguished Software Engineer at Google), and Maria Cuevas (#NCWITAiC Collegiate Award Winner and budding tech leader at Columbia University) examined the structural shifts in computation and their impacts on education and the workplace. It’s so funny, I was frying fish and listening to a lecture on database management when I got a ping on my phone and saw this post. I am still on the path to a PhD and earning other certs - only the sky is the limit or is it?

Is it possible to pursue your ambitions while being a full-time professional, caretaker, and a first-generation student — and what does it take? For Sajida Shabanali, this meant learning how to make the most of every available moment: 🍽️ listening to lectures while cooking dinner, doing homework while in the car line to pick up her kids from school 📚, and spending nights studying for exams 📝 Now, the #AiCStoriesAmbassador is a three-time alumna of the University of West Florida with degrees in computer information systems, software engineering, and cybersecurity. Although the third-culture citizen — born in Tanzania, raised in Dubai, and completed undergrad in New York City — has seen the world, sometimes breaking barriers doesn’t begin with changing it 💡 It starts with one small step toward dismantling what you've been taught to believe is possible. Could the courage to pursue your own dreams be the permission someone else needs to pursue theirs? 🩵
