Congratulations to Alberta Precision Laboratories on receiving the 2026 Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists (CSCC) Award for Innovation in Laboratory Medicine. This recognition celebrates APL’s leadership in developing a standardized, province-wide hemoglobinopathy testing program, a long-term initiative that has brought greater consistency to testing and reporting, improved efficiency, reduced the risk of errors, and helped minimize unnecessary testing to preserve valuable healthcare resources. A program of this scale requires the collaboration of many stakeholders across the healthcare system. Through that partnership, APL has helped create a model that puts patients first while supporting interdisciplinary collaboration.
