⛅️ In the AI Security era, protecting the cloud isn’t just about protection — it’s about prediction. At #OneCon 2025, Cameron Sipes, Product Marketing Director of Cloud Security, unpacked how SentinelOne is helping enterprises stay ahead of cloud attacks with DSPM and Cloud Attack Paths. ➡ Data Security Posture Management (DSPM): Discover, classify, and protect sensitive data across every cloud surface — because in 2025, data is the real mission target. ➡ Cloud Attack Paths: Map vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and signals into a connected view by predicting how attackers can go from initial access to mission target — helping teams focus on what matters most. Together, these advances redefine how defenders understand risk — and how they act on it. 🎥 Watch the full deep-dive with Cameron Sipes and Security Weekly Productions host Doug White to see how SentinelOne is converging innovation and security in the cloud.

  • 🚦 Authorities crack down on ransomware, a crypto fraud ring, and DPRK IT worker schemes, ‘SleepyDuck’ malware uses Ethereum smart contracts to evade takedowns, and Iran-linked attackers target U.S. policy experts with phishing and espionage campaigns. 🚦 This is the week in cyber. This is SentinelOne’s Good, Bad, and Ugly cyber news roundup. ⬇️ ✅ GOOD: Global law enforcement indicted malicious insiders, sanctioned North Korean banks for laundering ill-gotten crypto, and arrested nine suspects in a wide-spread crypto fraud network. • Three ex-cybersecurity employees were officially indicted for their role in BlackCat ransomware ops, stealing data and demanding ransom payouts. • OFAC sanctioned two North Korean banks and eight associates for laundering cryptocurrency stolen via various IT worker scams. • Eurojust authorities arrested nine people involved in a cryptocurrency fraud ring that has stolen more than €600 million ($689 million) across multiple countries. ⚠️ BAD: New RAT dubbed ‘SleepyDuck’ is masquerading as a Solidity extension on Open VSX open-source registry, garnering over 53,000 downloads since its upload on October 31. • The malware uses Ethereum smart contracts to manage its C2 communications in order to establish persistence, even if a takedown of the main server occurs. • Open VSX is working with VS Code to block emerging threats, and has pushed out new security measures such as shorter token lifetimes, automated scans, and revoking leaked credentials faster. 🤢 UGLY: Iran-based threat cluster called ‘UNK_SmudgedSerpent’ continue to target various U.S. academics, foreign policy experts, and think tanks via phishing and spoofing. • The newly-discovered cluster uses politically-themed lures, related to the current tension between Iran and Israel, to tempt their victims into clicking on malicious links. • The links take victims to spoofed Microsoft login pages, allowing the attackers to harvest credentials and potentially gather Western insights on regional policies and strategic technology.
