Servo has enabled CSS Grid layout by default, marking a major milestone for the project's web interoperability. CSS Grid is a powerful two-dimensional layout system that enables complex, responsive page structures that are difficult to achieve with other layout models. Enabling it by default means Servo can now render a significantly larger portion of the real web correctly, and brings it closer to parity with other major browser engines on layout capability. CSS Grid in Servo is powered by the library Taffy and is enabled through continued effort and contributions from Nico Burns. #OpenSource #CSS #Web

Servo now passes 100% of Web Platform Tests for the WebCrypto API (all 73,292 subtests) supporting 25 cryptographic algorithms. The Web Cryptography API underpins secure communication across the web: TLS handshakes, JWT signing, end-to-end encryption, password hashing, and key derivation all rely on it. Reaching full WPT coverage means Servo's implementation is complete and interoperable with the behaviour specified by the W3C and validated against every other major browser engine. This milestone is the result of sustained contributions over many months, including recent additions of post-quantum algorithms ML-KEM and ML-DSA, and the KMAC family of operations, putting Servo ahead of most engines on next-generation cryptography readiness.
