I keep getting stuck on 'proprietary data is the moat.' It's everywhere in startup land right now, and the more time I spend thinking about it, the less I trust it.
Building the infrastructure and tools to enable the next generation of software development, where AI agent swarms will revolutionize how companies automate tasks and solve complex problems.

Hey everybody! I'm hosting a happy hour this Thursday with Mercury at Tokyo Record Bar. Link to RSVP in the comments. I recently joined Mercury's Ambassador program (check it out! https://lnkd.in/gxbTGdYg) and Off The Books is an event series being put on around fostering conversation and community, and this is the first one in New York! Come have some drinks and snacks with us and chat about AI :)

One of the most fun things about Artifact Land has been all the new ideas people come up with! The other night Chuck Blake asked me to enable Spotify iframe integration, and as soon as I did he published this amazing artifact for exploring the billboard 100 and being able to listen to previews of the songs: https://lnkd.in/eYN2fjwc

All we're hearing about today is Forward Deployed Engineers, but that misses the real structural shift that's happening. Everyone is becoming empowered to build and while the Fortune 500 are getting implementors, everyone else is going to be doing the implementation ourselves.

Hey founder friends! I'm co-hosting a happy hour Thursday, May 21st with Mercury at Tokyo Record Bar: https://luma.com/ne1bi3c6 I recently joined Mercury's Ambassador program (https://lnkd.in/gxbTGdYg) and Off The Books is an event series being put on around fostering conversation and community, and this is the first one in New York! It's going to be a small group of builders hanging out, and I suspect there will be at least a few conversations about AI. If you're around and have been meaning to check out Tokyo Record Bar, come out and catch up with some old friends and maybe meet some new ones! RSVP here: https://luma.com/ne1bi3c6

Artificial Ruby is this Wednesday the 13th (https://luma.com/j71w5v66)! Not only do we have a really exciting line up of speakers, but there's going to be a film crew from Hulu there as well! This month's event is centered around how much more important distribution and marketing is because of AI, and all of our speakers will be telling their story of how they've been approaching it: Nancy Rhodes - From designing for Beyoncé to building tech: the AI flywheel Nancy comes from fashion, where nothing works overnight. A look at compound marketing, fast iteration, and what changes when you can finally get to “good” without waiting. Justin Abrams and Michael Rispoli - Same Studio. New Engine In the age of AI, the playbook for agencies is changing. Especially for those that lead with Software Engineering as a Service. Justin Abrams and Mike Rispoli, Co-Founders of Long Island based Software Studio, will share how their business has evolved, but more importantly, how they are deliberately innovating across the business with AI at the forefront. Mary Holland Nader and Kara Cooke - The Moat Is the Community We built a following before we built a product. Through in person events and social media, Mary & Pip created a community centered on one idea: money shouldn't feel intimidating. That community became our feedback loop, our focus group, and our first users. When everyone can build with AI, the question isn't who can ship fastest, it's who people actually trust. If you've been interested in coming out to Artificial Ruby, this will be one you won't want to miss! RSVP here: https://luma.com/j71w5v66 As always, special thanks to our sponsors for making this event possible: Test Double, OmbuLabs.ai, Def Method, and Gusto

The videos from our April Artificial Ruby event are now available on YouTube! If you missed it, our next event is going to be on May 13th at betaworks you can RSVP here: https://luma.com/j71w5v66 we'd love to have you! We have some great talks lined up again, stay tuned for details about our speakers :) Our talks from April were: Jonathan Berger: The Neverending Vibecodes (https://lnkd.in/djcDkXkd) Brian Hecht: Confessions of a New Builder (https://lnkd.in/d3-MunNa) I spent 20 years as a founder and 10 as an investor and I've never written a line of code in my life. Then one day I met Claude and built an entire suite of productivity tools in a week. I'll show you what I built and why I've decided to form a company around it! Avi Flombaum: Don't Read the Code: Trusting AI With Your Rails Codebase (https://lnkd.in/d8t-tguc) Learn to let go with AI so you don't even need to read your code. See an AI harness for Rails apps that writes code to fit your app, patterns, and your team. We'll generate an app that ships with workflow skills, conventions, and agent hooks that will let us one-shot the most complicated thing you can come up with and then read the code. While Claude works on that, we'll cover the AI harness and how it works. You can always find past talks on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/gYM_em96 or through our events page https://lnkd.in/gmCAhyNT Thanks again to our speakers and special thanks to our sponsors for making the event possible: Test Double, OmbuLabs.ai, Def Method, and Gusto

Last week I posted "FDE: Forward Deployed Everybody"... the idea that we're about to need AI-native people embedded inside every department. This week Stripe posted a job called Forward Deployed AI Accelerator, Marketing... the marketing version of that role. Every team is going to need people, internal or fractional, who can actually move at the speed AI now lets them move and continuously adapt as these things change. If you're trying to figure out what this looks like inside your team, I'm taking on 3 clients this quarter to help install it. Reply or DM and lets chat!

Another great use case of artifacts is comparing and examining the results and performance between different algorithms. AI is very easily able to one-shot these interactive toys to give you the ability to make informed decisions very quickly. Manuel Odendahl just shared one this morning about the performance differences between UUID v7 and UUID v4. If you've ever been curious what the details were about the debate, check out the new artifact he just posted: https://lnkd.in/esRMpAqH

Another cool use case for Artifacts today from Justin P. - useful, small utilities like QR code generators! Justin just published an explainer Artifact on QR codes, with a QR code generator at the end where you can make your own for free, with no ads or annoying watermarks! Link to the artifact in comments :)
