The transpacific container #shipping market is bracing for a contraction as major ocean carriers pull services and blank sailings surge in response to slumping demand, falling freight rates, and rising trade uncertainty between the United States and China. ZIM Integrated Shipping Services discontinued its ZIM Central China Xpress; TS Lines has withdrawn its AWC2 loop, which served South China to Los Angeles; and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company scrapped its planned Mustang service to the Pacific Northwest. Premier Alliance PN4 has also been withdrawn even before its launch. Ocean carrier alliance ONE similarly suspended a planned May service connecting China and North America. #containershipping #tariffs https://lnkd.in/dmNsACAB

The guidelines for customs brokers’ career progression and specialization are under review and for finalization soon, according to Samuel Bautista, chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board for Customs Brokers under the Professional Regulation Commission. Bautista told PortCalls the program will recognize customs brokers’ level of specialization, just like in other regulated professions such as medicine, wherein doctors have their specialties and subspecialties. Specializations may, for example, be in handling transshipments, international commercial terms, economic zone transactions, and customs audit. There will be levels of specialization, which can be achieved through various criteria to be provided in the guidelines. #customsbroker #specialization https://lnkd.in/d-MyMECm
