❤️ “Two weeks of pure, queer joy” 🏳️🌈
It's been a big couple of weeks and I'm very bad at celebrating the wins publicly, so please excuse a very late (and self-indulgent) post! Last month, as Mardi Gras kicked off, we launched PEDESTRIAN.TV's first ever digital cover, celebrating the LGBTQ+ culture makers and game changers: DJ and creator Kath Ebbs, House of Silky’s Father Xander Khoury, First Nations drag queen Felicia Foxx, Heaps Gay founder Kat Dopper, and fashion designer Alix Higgins! 🏳️🌈 🏳️🌈 🏳️🌈 This was a huge labour of love, with Jenna Suffern, Tom Disalvo, Phoebe McIlwraith and Issy Phillips profiling our digital cover stars, a phenomenal cover by Maya Brasnovic, an entirely new digital product from Pauline Grech and the PTV tech team, and all pulled together in a couple weeks. On top of that, Brendan Hancock wrote about the queer Sydney legend that is Trough Man, Bree Grant asked 18 drag queens for their ride or die beauty products, Sandy McIntyre wrote a guide to navigating your first Mardi Gras as a baby gay, Jack Jones made me cry laughing with his guide to the characters you'll meet at Mardi Gras, and Jenna Suffern was boots on the ground to ask party goers the important question: how to avoid their exes. (Plus, there's not a single person in editorial who didn't jump into this cover one way or another, so shout out Matthew Galea, Laura Masia, Rebekah Manibog, Simran Pasricha, Rhea L Nath, Adam Nguyen, Eleanor Burnard, Jasmine Wallis, Emily Sturgess and Benjamin Veress.) The result? Two weeks of pure, queer joy on PTV. What's really going to stick with me are the comments we received from readers — this issue was about celebrating community and the people who make it.
