  • We're proud to be supporting some of Queensland's first-ever Nuclear Medicine students through RMIT’s Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine - Industry). This is the first Nuclear Medicine degree to be offered in the state, allowing Queensland students to pursue their passion while staying close to home, with paid clinical training placements. Queensland X-Ray is hosting students across our practices in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Mackay, Cairns, Toowoomba, and Townsville. Congratulations to this year's cohort, who began their hands-on clinical learning earlier last month.

Last month, students enrolled in RMIT's new #nuclear #medicine degree, which is based in #Queensland, began classes.   The Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine – Industry Practice) is the first such degree to be offered in Queensland, helping local students realise their passions while staying close to home.   17-year-old Charlotte Hanson, who is the youngest in her cohort, said that she is thankful for the opportunity to pursue her dream career without relocating to Melbourne.   "I thought about travelling to Melbourne to study nuclear medicine, but I was worried about doing that while still underage," said Charlotte.   "Then this opportunity came up to study what I want while staying in Toowoomba."   The degree will help to create a pipeline of nuclear medicine graduates who can serve the state and especially rural areas.   Fellow student Rebecca Hall, mother of two young children, is excited about the chance to make an impact.   "The significance of this program is not lost on me," Rebecca said.   "I want the world to know it’s such an amazing opportunity here in Queensland, not just for the students going through it, but also what it means for Queensland in terms of making vital medical imaging available to people." The degree also provides students with valuable paid work experience at Queensland Health and a number of private providers, from now until they graduate, which student Carley Chapman (pictured below) is grateful for. "This money will help so much. It’s great that this opportunity exists, as I know placements are usually unpaid," she said. • This year's International Women's Day Fun Run has once again demonstrated the community's support for women affected by breast cancer, with thousands participating in the Sea of Pink. Despite challenging weather conditions that led to the cancellation of the Brisbane event, many still participated in a 5k Your Way, walking, jogging, or running where and when it was safe to do so. Many team members from Queensland X-Ray participated, and some were able to attend the official event in Townsville. Together, an incredible $1.7 million was raised for Mater Chicks in Pink, making a real difference for women diagnosed with breast cancer.   These funds will: 💞 Support the Women’s Cancer Survivorship Clinic for thriving post-treatment. 🔬 Provide state-of-the-art equipment for surgeries. 💕 Ensure access to practical items like mastectomy bras and wigs. 🧪Advance breast cancer research at Mater for better futures.   Queensland X-Ray is incredibly proud to be the presenting partner of this event and would like to say a huge congratulations to everyone who took part! • Big news from our Mater Hospital Hyde Park practice! We’ve just upgraded our PET/CT Scanner to help us continue delivering the best quality care for patients across Townsville.   This game-changing technology offers faster, more accurate scans, reducing wait times and increasing capacity. It benefits both patients and referring doctors, with quicker appointments and better outcomes. Dr Tyson Reeve, a Queensland X-Ray Radiologist with a special interest in oncological imaging, shares the impact this upgrade will make: "PET/CT scans can be overwhelming—whether it’s for diagnosis, managing or monitoring treatment, or a routine follow-up. With this upgrade, patients will experience shorter wait times, faster scans, and higher-quality imaging. The new features, like calming LED lighting and a flared bore, make the experience more comfortable, helping ease anxiety during what is often an already difficult time."   We’re thrilled to roll out this advanced technology at Queensland X-Ray and are confident it will make a real difference to the community.
