“There’s no leash.” That’s how Trey Holterman, CEO & Co-Founder of Tennr, describes his approach to leadership. In this 'Why Work Here' episode, he tells Wellfound CEO Amit Matani that the best teams don’t wait for permission. They spot problems, chase ideas, and run full speed toward better solutions. Like the CSM who once flew a Joe’s Pizza across the country to surprise a client—because that’s what high-agency looks like in real life. It’s also how Tennr has scaled so fast: when you hire for ownership, you don’t have to manage motivation. #WhyWorkHere #Startups #HealthTech #Tennr #Wellfound

“Why can’t we?” That’s the question Elan Adler 🩻 , Founder & CEO of OneImaging, wants every founder to keep asking. In this Why Work Here episode, Elan talks with Wellfound about what it really takes to build a healthcare startup from scratch—and why adaptability, grit, and relentless pursuit of distribution matter more than perfection. “You can have the best product in the world, but if you don’t have distribution, it’s just the best product in the world that no one’s using.” His advice to his younger founder self: stay fearless when things get tough, stay close to your users, and keep asking, 'Why can’t we?' Founder Tip: "I couldn't answer that question, even though I'm supposed to be the radiology guy." Elan Adler 🩻 , Founder and CEO of OneImaging, kept getting asked where to get affordable imaging that takes insurance. He was the expert. He had no answer. Then his father had a lump. Took too long to get scanned. Stage three cancer by the time they caught it. He survived. Most people don't get that chance. Approximately 35% of Americans skip scans due to cost or confusion. That's not a business problem. That's people dying from delays while the technology to save them already exists. Elan quit his job. Put his own savings into building OneImaging. Not because healthcare felt like a good bet. Because he watched people he knows suffer from a system that makes no sense. Because the future where you just get a scan when something's wrong is supposed to be here already. He's not waiting for funding or permission to fix it. He's building it now because people can't afford to wait. What problem do you see every day that you wish you could solve? #WhyWorkHere #StartupCulture #HealthTech #FounderJourney

Founder Tip: Build for overlooked, profitable businesses. “We’re working with people using software that’s older than us. And they don’t even know why.” Ryan G. Smith, co-founder and CEO of Mura said this to Amit Matani during a 'Why Work Here' conversation about who they’re building for. Most founders chase tech buyers because the sales cycles are fast, and it’s what they know. Ryan builds for legacy American businesses that already make money, including commercial field service companies such as HVAC, pest control, and plumbing. These aren’t dream-stage startups burning cash. They’re profitable, essential, and have been ignored for decades while everyone competes for the same SaaS buyers. When you listen to people who’ve been overlooked, they respond differently. Mura’s live chat stays full because their customers actually want to talk. Dispatch teams who’ve never had a product team pay attention to them have become thoughtful, invested collaborators. #StartupCulture #Hiring #ProductStrategy #CustomerFirst
