About us

Wintermute is one of the largest crypto-native algorithmic trading companies in digital assets. We provide liquidity algorithmically across most cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms, offer a broad range of OTC trading products, and support high-profile Web3 projects and traditional financial institutions moving into crypto. We actively participate in the development of the cryptocurrency ecosystem through investments, partnerships, and incubation of projects. Wintermute was founded in 2017 by industry leaders and has successfully navigated multiple crypto industry cycles. Culturally, we combine the best of the two worlds: the technology standards of high-frequency trading firms in traditional markets and the innovative and entrepreneurial culture of technology startups. • 📈 Market update – 1 December 2025 ‣ BOJ rate-hike shock erased last week’s stabilisation and triggered broad deleveraging. ‣ Market structure has reset cleanly with lower leverage, neutral funding, and stronger spot participation. ‣ Everything trades macro, alt strength fades quickly, but majors now look less fragile. • We're back on campus for recruiting season! Last week we visited University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. On Thursday, our Algorithmic Trader Anthony Shin, a Cambridge alumnus, presented to the Cambridge Blockchain Society on liquidity provision on centralized crypto exchanges. The next morning, our DeFi Developer Raghav K. joined Matt Styles to sponsor and attend the Capture The Flag competition, part of Imperial Computing's Principles of Distributed Ledgers Module. Congratulations to the prize winners. Great turnout from students exploring our graduate and internship opportunities across Quant Research and Algo Trading. We enjoyed sharing more about our work in trading and research. →→→ Interested in roles for next summer? Check our careers page: https://lnkd.in/dVmpsxr #crypto #internship #digitalassets

  • 📈 Market update – 24 November 2025 ‣ AI-led equity momentum finally cracked, triggering a broad risk-off rotation that dragged crypto below $3T and left it the worst-performing major asset class for a third straight week. ‣ Macro added pressure with softer labour data, falling rate-cut odds, and Japan’s bond/FX stress pushed global sentiment lower into a thin holiday liquidity backdrop. ‣ Crypto positioning has reset meaningfully, with funding turning neutral/negative, cleaner leverage, and firm spot volumes improving conditions for consolidation once macro stabilizes. Head of Policy and Advocacy at Wintermute

The conference travel may have subsided this month, but plenty busy in NYC for Wintermute policy! Some highlights these past 3 weeks: - Guest lectured a Columbia University class on the years-long development of crypto regulations/legislation in DC, Wintermute's expansion into the US, and how to break into the crypto industry. Huge thank you to Claire Husson-Citanna, CFA for inviting me! - Additionally this week, the Wintermute legal team finalized their second response to the SEC Crypto taskforce! Our policy priorities include: clarity that dealers can self-custody for on-chain settlement, and that DeFi liquidity-provision shouldn’t trigger dealer registration. You can read more here: https://lnkd.in/g4FjZ2H4 - Last week spoke to housing regulators and mortgage bankers on the intersection of crypto and housing policy. Appreciate Ken Wingert organizing this great event! - Finally, we partnered with Superstate in hosting Dr Lisa Cameron, Baroness Manzila Uddin, and various members of the UKUS Crypto Alliance discussing how Parliament is looking at various crypto regulatory announcements from the FCA and Treasury. Thank you Robin Ross Alexander Zozos for having us!
