I gave an opening keynote at the FIDO Alliance’s “Authenticate” conference a few weeks ago! Although it featured timely strategies and tips for professionals deploying passkeys, my primary goal was to explain, as clearly as I can, why passkeys are important and how we should use them to reduce the harm that passwords cause. ICYMI [ ✍ FIDO White Paper ] "Passkeys and Verifiable Digital Credentials: A Harmonized Path to Secure Digital Identity" 🆔 🗺️ Around the world, government entities are currently working to create and implement their digital identity strategies, which includes issuing verifiable digital credentials (VDCs) to their citizens. As a result of these initiatives, organizations are also beginning to discuss using VDCs as a primary form of authentication. VDCs are an important part of verifying a user’s identity that can be used alongside FIDO’s passkeys, which provide a primary authentication mechanism that is fast, safe, and reliable.
