🔎 How are teachers using all the new #AI products in classrooms? From EdWeek Market Brief: "There’s a lot of frothiness about what the tech industry is saying we can do, and not a ton of actual, concrete examples of the type of work we hope to be happening," said Beth Rabbitt, CEO of The Learning Accelerator. Earlier this month, the School Teams AI Collaborative met in Denver to discuss the risks and opportunities of using AI in the classroom and what the current research says. Throughout the school year, the Collaborative (led by The Learning Accelerator and Leading Educators) includes coaching sessions for participants, learning communities to connect teams, and the co-creation of a national resource hub to deliver its findings. Denver Public Schools has joined a new partnership between two nonprofit organizations, The Learning Accelerator and Leading Educators, to close the disconnect between how AI products get developed, and what actually proves useful in the classroom. The project, called the School Teams AI Collaborative, kicked off last week at 19 schools (3 from Denver 🎉) in nine cities across the country, with teams of educators and school leaders beginning work on developing uses for AI tools in the classroom, testing those efforts, and documenting progress throughout the 2024-25 school year. EdWeek Market Brief spotlit the School Teams AI Collaborative, a collaboration between The Learning Accelerator and Leading Educators. Read more about the initiative and how we are hoping to surface and codify promising ways AI can be used in instruction. "The national narrative around using AI in education has 'cast educators as either totally on board or skeptics,' said Beth Rabbitt, of the Learning Accelerator. 'The reality is most educators are in the middle, saying ‘Help me figure out how to use this in a coherent way that actually helps my students.'” “Oftentimes technology is just designed for educators to use. This is an opportunity for educators to also design their own tools, to interact with technologists, and to think about, ‘What does it actually look like for my kids in my classroom? What are the problems that we need to solve?’” said Chong-Hao Fu, CEO of Leading Educators. #edtech #schools #edleadership #edchat
