What a fantastic day at the The Gin Guild’s annual Ginposium, this year marking the 10th in-person gathering, hosted in the beautiful surroundings of the The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) in London 🍸🏛️ Having previously welcomed members of The Worshipful Company of Distillers (the Gin Guild’s parent Livery) to Salcombe, it was a real pleasure to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new ones, and share in the collective passion for our industry 🤝✨ The day was packed with insightful talks and trend analysis, from Chris Pitcher's data-driven look at the global gin landscape 📊 to Gary Spedding, Ph.D. deep dive into botanical fingerprinting 🌿🔬. A huge thanks to Michael Vachon for his optimism and perspective, it’s clear there’s still enormous opportunity for innovation and growth in markets around the world 🌍🚀 I was also honoured to have Four Seas Gin by Salcombe Distilling Company included in the lunchtime tasting, thanks to Pal Gleed and David T Smith 🙏. I’ll admit, I hadn’t quite realised it would be tasted neat, alongside seven other exceptional gins, by what is arguably the most knowledgeable and discerning panel in the business, our fellow gin makers 🥃🧠 So it was a huge (and slightly nerve-wracking) thrill to see Four Seas voted joint first 🥇, alongside Aureas Vitae by our friends at TREVETHAN DISTILLERY LTD in Cornwall 🎉. To be rated so highly among such esteemed company—like Four Pillars, Hernö, Roku, and Hendrick’s—is an incredible testament to the team’s craftsmanship 👏🍾 Hats off to Pal Gleed, The Gin Guild, and all the speakers, including Philip Griffiths, Oliver Kitson, Edward Garbett, Gary Spedding, Ph.D., Murielle Arnaud Dessenis, Chris Pitcher, Vicky Ilankovan, David T Smith, Anne Brock, Charles Maxwell, Sophie Gallois, Philip Duff, Michael Vachon, Georgie Bell and Jared Brown and Anistatia Miller for a brilliant event 🙌 And ahead of World Gin Day tomorrow, as the legendary Charles Maxwell from Thames Distillers Ltd in an interview by fellow legend, Christopher Hayman, reminded us, Gin remains the World’s best mixing spirit! 💬🍹 #WorldGinDay #MixWithTheBest #Salcombe #ExceptionalGin #SalcombeGin
