Your AI strategy is only as good as the record it learns from. Most manufacturing records aren't records of what happened. They're records of what someone said happened: a step confirmed, a result entered, a deviation signed off after the fact. Systems of assertion, not observation. In Forbes, Natan Linder and Gilad Langer argue that it's this, not model quality, that's the binding constraint on industrial AI. The models are being asked to learn from a record that was never a record of reality in the first place. Aviation didn't get safer because pilots got better. It got safer because we started recording what actually happened, and then built a discipline around learning from it. The recorder came first. The safety culture came second.
