On October 15, 2025, the 138th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) officially opened at the Pazhou Exhibition Center in Guangzhou. In collaboration with UnionPay International and @Bank of Ceylon，@SriLankan Airlines  officially launches UnionPay as a payment option on its official website. This move further enhances the airline’s online payment ecosystem and provides greater convenience for the growing number of Chinese travelers. The addition of UnionPay not only enriches SriLankan Airlines’ existing payment portfolio， but also helps strengthen its position in the fast-growing digital tourism market. To celebrate the launch of UnionPay’s online acceptance service, SriLankan Airlines is in discussions with UnionPay to roll out an exclusive promotion for UnionPay cardholders.

UnionPay International and @Bank of China Frankfurt Branch announced the launch of the SplendorPlus Debit Card, marking its first issuance in Europe. Tailored to serve local residents in Germany to travel to China, the card caters to the surge in travel to China, offering customers convenient purchases both locally and internationally, with seamless spending experiences in China. Key highlight for cardholders is the cashback incentive: 1% cash back on transactions made via the UnionPay network in Chinese mainland. This initiative also reinforce cross-border engagement and long-term institutional cooperation.   Through this collaboration, UnionPay and Bank of China Frankfurt Branch will integrate SplendorPlus benefits into existing card products, boosting the competitiveness of Bank of China’s UnionPay dual-currency debit cards. Starting from October 1, 2025, current dual-currency debit cards will be upgraded to the SplendorPlus Card, with cashback rewards promoted and accessible via UnionPay’s mobile-based U Rewards Platform. In collaboration with Bank of Ceylon (BOC) and SriLankan Airlines Official, we are pleased to announce the enablement of UnionPay online payment acceptance on the official website of SriLankan Airlines, www.srilankan.com. This milestone enhances the airline’s payment options, offering greater convenience to all UnionPay cardholders to book SriLankan flights online.   With this enablement, UnionPay credit and debit cardholders can now make secure and seamless transactions when purchasing airline tickets via SriLankan Airlines’ website. The addition of UnionPay acceptance marks a significant step in expanding SriLankan Airlines’ payment ecosystem, catering to a growing number of Chinese travellers and further strengthening the airline’s position as Sri Lanka’s national carrier.  

UnionPay International has announced an exclusive promotion in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts, offering an instant discount of up to 15% in China for global UnionPay credit cardholders. A total of over 500 designated hotels in Chinese mainland that support UnionPay online payment are included in the offer, aimed at enhancing the travel payment experience for international UnionPay cardholders.   InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is a globally leading international hotel management company with over 20 hotel brands.
