🐻🔬 Cornell Quantum Day!! Cornell is the leader in quantum research, bringing together: - the best equipment (Cornell Nanoscale Facility, Cornell Synchrotron, CCMR) - the best researchers (physics, electrical engineering, materials science, computer science), with 32 quantum courses to take!! - the best industry (Air Force Research Lab, Rigetti Computing, ASML, Thermo Fisher) wonderful presentations and poster session, everyone shared best practices on quantum techniques!! - I learned how to trap a single electron in a quantum well, to analyze that single electron's properties without noise from other electrons! - I learned how to use waveguides to capture the fluorescence that come out of electrons, so that I can read the experiment results - I learned how to use magnetic resonance to analyze the material composition of nanoscale structures, ie (the MRI machine used in hospitals, but on the nanoscale level!) Quantum is such an exciting area!! as computer chips and materials become smaller and smaller, the quantum effects become more and more important to understand!! Cornell Research & Innovation
