Garden came to us with a vision: transform how the world sees patent data. Not just as numbers and legal documents, but as beautiful, accessible intelligence that drives innovation. Over 3 months, we dove deep into stakeholder research, uncovered the emotional core of what patents represent—constitutional rights, creative progress, the backbone of American innovation—and built a complete rebrand that honors both the inspiration and utility patent owners need. Garden 1.0 is dead. Garden 2.0 is alive, dynamic, and ready to change how innovators interact with IP intelligence. The result? A brand that doesn't just present data—it presents possibility. Ideas. Aesthetics. Code. 🧬
When I started Garden, it began as a Stanford dorm room project focused on exploring patent data in new ways. Since then, we’ve built a team, a loyal customer base, and a deep appreciation for what patents mean for our society. IP rights are constitutional rights. They’re fundamental to American capitalism and progress. And most importantly, patents are beautiful. That very beauty is something we want to showcase with Garden 2.0 - a top-down rebrand that builds upon our fundamental strength of reimagining patent intelligence. We spent the last 3 months talking to our key stakeholders about how we can capture both the inspiration and utility of patent owners and innovators. We're thrilled to share that our work for First Street has been recognized with a Merit award from The One Club for Creativity in this year's One Show. This project was a comprehensive rebrand for an organization making critical climate risk data accessible to millions of Americans. Our design system needed to balance scientific authority with human clarity—transforming complex climate data into digestible, actionable insights for homeowners, insurers, and policymakers alike. In tackling this challenge, we created a visual language that communicates urgency without falling into alarmism—using carefully calibrated color systems and typography that bring scientific rigor to the forefront while remaining approachable. We poured our energy into developing intuitive visualization methods for flood, fire, and heat risk data, ensuring the interfaces guide users naturally through understanding their climate risks and potential mitigation strategies. The entire system respects the gravity of climate science while making it accessible to everyday Americans who need this information to protect their homes and futures. Previously featured on Brand New, The Brand Identity, and winner of the Red Dot 2024 Brand & Communication Design award, this recognition from The One Show further validates our approach to designing for impact in the climate space. Our Moonbeam Network rebrand shines on The Brand Identity today. We helped this pioneering blockchain platform glow up with an ethereal new identity that stands out in the web3 landscape crowded with undifferentiated visuals. Our nine month partnership on strategy, identity, and execution delivered something truly unique: Typography: Our intricate type system doesn't just communicate values through words—its unique mixed-letter treatment conceptually hints at Moonbeam's multi-chain technology and growing community. 3D Visuals: We created surreal landscapes and geometric patterns forming an ethereal world that captures the duality of the Moonbeam name—both a scientific phenomenon and a natural source of wonder. Website Usability: By streamlining the user experience around documentation, developer resources, and community updates, we built a more intuitive platform serving all ecosystem participants. UI Motion: Our micro-animations—glimmering heading type, shimmering borders, and rolling monotypes—create a cinematic, premium feel that subtly emits the brand language throughout the experience. Huge thanks to the incredible Moonbeam team for trusting us with their vision. Together, we've created something that bridges worlds and elevates the standard for blockchain branding.
