We're excited to reveal that our Vinted members saved €21.6B in 2025 by choosing fashion on Vinted over comparable items at original prices. That means more savings + less waste = greater impact. That's the Vinted Equation. It's not only about the sustainability, it's even deeper than that. It’s about a family going on an extra day out because they found school uniforms for less. A student selling pre-loved clothes to kit out their new flat. Someone finally buying something from their dream brand they wouldn't be able to buy new from. 76% of orders on Vinted last year avoided the purchase of a new item. As a result, the total net carbon emissions avoided by the Vinted marketplace in 2025 was 1607 kilotonnes CO₂e. Small choices. Real scale. You've probably used autocomplete thousands of times without thinking about it. It's in Google, Amazon, YouTube, and also in Vinted. Here's a quick look at how Vinted's autocomplete actually works. First, we need to figure out what queries to suggest to users. We build a base list by combining things we know about Vinted's inventory (brands, categories, colours), producing queries like "nike black sneakers". On top of that, we add real user search queries into the pool. When enough people search for the same thing, that query becomes a suggestion for everyone else. Vinted has tens of millions of users, and that scale unlocks suggestions that fall completely outside any catalog we could build: "sony wh-1000xm5", "charizard pokemon card", "y2k baggy jeans", "how to kill men and get away with it" (relax, it's just a book title 😀). This works across all 20+ languages Vinted operates in. The system doesn't need to understand what a query means, it just follows what people actually search for. With every letter you type, we search through that entire pool of suggestions in milliseconds. Google, Amazon, YouTube have set the bar - users expect instant results. Typos are handled too. Type "Nkie" and you'll still see Nike suggestions, though if we can't find anything good we'd rather show nothing. A user finishing their query and finding what they want is more valuable, and that new query can eventually become a suggestion for everyone else. Two people typing the same letters can see different suggestions. This is powered by an ML model learning from your browsing, clicking and buying patterns on Vinted. Someone who mostly browses men's fashion sees different things than someone who shops luxury. Suggestions also shift naturally with seasons and trends. Nobody on the team is manually updating this. To test any change, we quietly roll it out to half the users and compare - did they use autocomplete more? Did they buy more? If yes, it ships to everyone. Most people don't realise this kind of silent testing is happening constantly across basically every app they use.
