Today the UK government has reported on the recent "ZEV mandate" consultation, confirming some aspects but also making some significant changes⤵️ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/emXgfMKq "It is good to see a fast turnaround on the ZEV mandate consultation - we welcome the continued commitment to the 2030 ban on sales of new petrol and diesel cars and that there is no change to the high-level sales trajectory of the ZEV mandate. "This, combined with a focused effort on messaging around EVs, will go some way to end the uncertainty in the market for consumers, and also gives a message to car manufacturers that the UK continues to be committed to the switch to electric vehicles. "However, it is very disappointing to see that hybrids will continue to be sold until 2035, the additional "flexibilities" for car manufacturers have been introduced, with an as yet unknown impact on what this means for the actual number of EVs being sold over the coming years and no additional support on the demand side.
