Diversified Marine, Inc is proud to introduce our latest delivery – RASCAL. Epic tug name for an epic friend and partner – Brusco Tug & Barge, Inc. This is the 12th newbuild we have delivered to Brusco. Sistership ROWDY will follow soon to make it a baker's dozen between Brusco and DMI. The Rascal is the first in our latest series, the RAscal 2000 D. I'm excited to get the first one in service and am very bullish on this series. To my knowledge, I am not aware of a 65ft ship-assist tug being built for the commercial market in recent years. The trend for new deliveries has been 80T+ in 80-100 foot hulls. While I believe that trend will continue, I also believe the RAscal fills an emerging niche – secondary ports. Historically, secondary markets have been where tugboats go to die. Old tonnage in these ports are costing significantly more to maintain in a post Sub-M environment. Additionally, tugs have roughly double in cost over the last few years and until the last year, operators have been deferring newbuilds for primary ports (Avg ship assist tugs delivered 2000 - 2019 was 15 a year vs >10, 2020-2023). Add emissions concerns to the mix and the RAscal offers a great alternative to operators in smaller ports. Compact, powerful and cost-effective. Here's the highlights: Design: Robert Allan Ltd. If you are buying a new boat or yacht and looking for a marine loan, here is a simple strategy that can save hundreds of $$ in interest every month on a new loan.. Let's say you have a 740 credit score and usually have a high credit card balance because you use your credit cards for your business. You pay off the balance every month, but still can't see a major improvement in your score. A common problem is that your credit card company is reporting the high balance before your payoff posts. This shows up as a high use of revolving credit. The individual card usage percentage really matters- if you have one revolving account with a $10,000 limit using 80% of the credit limit like PayPal for example, it can do more damage than your primary credit card with a $50,000 limit and a 30% usage. Here's how to fix it- 1) Pay off your credit cards completely today. 2) Pay your credit cards off completely every week for the next 2 or 3 weeks. The best results we have ever seen was a credit score that jumped from a 730 to 802 within 2 weeks. That saved the client 1/4% on their rate. On a $1M loan, that's $2,500 in annual savings. Higher credit scores give the client more flexibility in rate, term, and down payments. Each engagement is tailored to your learning objective(s) in a professionally designed immersion course complete with training manuals and visual aids, on your own catamaran, wherever she may be. Yes, we travel to you and act as your personal coach for a flat daily rate for up to four pupils, thereby reducing the additional costs incurred with traditional "package" courses, such as multiple airfares to the sailing school venue, per person tuition for each class taken, room and board, learning on a cat other than your own and sharing hands-on time with other students. Pushing this out once again. 1. No one should pre/post op their seats 2. Operators think their seats are working when they are not 3. The Program Offices marginalize the importance of reliable seats and their ability to reduce injury 4. Seats should be downselected in the same manner that we select body armor. That is with focus and attention to detail 5. The seat companies should be required to provide longer warranties of 5 years. If their seats break or require shocks to be changed out, that company should pay, not our tax dollars. It will drive down program cost 6. Seats should be constantly tested underway with inertial measuring units to determine if they are protecting the operators and passengers. For far too long we keep seats onboard boats and don’t realize that they are breaking our bodies and damaging our brains. 1000 permanantly disabled operators =$48m per year/$480M per decade

The future of surface ship support at Devonport Dockyard In their latest article, Navy Lookout, considers the potential upgrade projects at Devonport to accommodate Royal Navy warships into the next few decades. Devonport is fundamental the operation of the RN and is the largest naval support facility in Western Europe. The site can be divided into two main parts, the Naval Base which is owned by the UK Ministry of Defence and supports active vessels of the Surface Flotilla and ships undergoing Operational Sea Training. The base also includes HMS Drake, home to about 3,000 personnel and has Single Living Accommodation for 1,800 sailors and marines. The Dockyard, the main focus of the article, is a separate entity, owned and operated by Babcock International Group as a centre of deep maintenance and upkeep for surface ships, submarines and amphibious vessels as well as providing Fleet Time Engineering Support. The ‘One Devonport’ blueprint was published in 2021 and outlines proposed changes that may take place over a long period, equipping the base until the 2050s. The biggest element of the development work is the £750M Submarine Waterfront Infrastructure (SWIF) project which is now underway. What is still less certain is exactly how frigate and other major warship support will be conducted although there are a few options that are under consideration, subject to costs and feasibility. #smes #shipbuilding National Shipbuilding Office #socsea24 #ISeaSMEs #maritimeconnection
