The market reaction has been misguided and irrational, fueled by reports predicting AI will destroy everything and replace decades of software engineering overnight. Read The Technology Letter by Tiernan Ray: https://lnkd.in/d5-pm_9K A fundamental truth is being missed. All SaaS companies are not created equal. When I meet with global CIOs and CEOs, they agree. They are not going to rewrite their core applications with AI. While AI models might soon write simple, non-mission-critical applications, try asking an AI to write a globally distributed system for inline inspection of cyber threats. As we enter the era of Agentic AI, the threat landscape is fundamentally changing. To navigate this new reality, leaders must recognize a few critical truths: - Security cannot settle for "good enough": A non-mission critical system can afford to go down for a few hours, but your mission-critical security infrastructure must succeed every single time because bad actors only need to succeed once. - Scale and speed are redefining risk: We are shifting from humans using software sporadically to autonomous AI agents operating around the clock. Millions of human users will soon translate into billions of autonomous agents, creating a massive new attack surface that operates infinitely faster than humans. - Hijacked agents are the new ultimate threat: An AI agent that gets hacked can do far more damage than a human because it moves at machine speed. I do not view AI as an existential threat; in fact, AI makes the need for cybersecurity more critical than ever. Securing AI agents grounded on a Zero Trust architecture that secures one-to-one connections is Zscaler’s next massive opportunity. This is why Zscaler is not just an application. Brad Thomas liked thisBrad Thomas liked thisPleased to share that Backblaze has closed our $201M convertible notes offering — oversubscribed, and on terms that materially strengthen our balance sheet. With the AI-driven growth that Gleb Budman has been talking about, we are significantly investing in our cloud storage infrastructure. This raise gives us more capital and at better terms to scale that buildout. The headline from me: this reduces our cost of capital for funding capex from 12.9% to 0% using these proceeds. That's a direct, meaningful improvement to our cash flow and capital efficiency. We also built in dilution protection up to 100% stock price appreciation, which reflects real conviction in our equity story rather than just opportunistic financing. And we expanded our revolving credit line to $50M, adding further balance sheet flexibility. None of this happens without great partners. Thank you to Bank of America, Oppenheimer & Co. We have to lean on each other’s expertise to uncover what’s next. The power of AI lies in its ability to amplify us. The future of work isn't Human vs. Machine. As former CIO and a frequent presenter to the Board, I would not want to be presenting this to anyone, let alone my CEO or Board. I urge all Audit Committee members, CIO, CISO to read this root cause video. This is worth it. https://lnkd.in/gGYRWhQn The following phrases worries me. 1️⃣ "Okay, let me start with a few caveats and framing. This is not your normal security incident." Timestamp [1:10]. (Duh! no security incident is) 2️⃣ "We give our Agents really really difficult 'Tasks' [2:16] 3️⃣ "Often what happens when models get stuck is they think to try to game or cheat the task in order to get their reward." [3:11] 🤷♂️ 4️⃣ "that they had the idea to actually reach out to other agents for help." [3:34] I can quote throughout the video, but its best that you watch and ask, do you want to be presenting this? My preference is always to learn from the mistakes of others. Pick up the phone and call for help. Protect or Perish. Kudos to OpenAI, HuggingFace and most recently Meta for coming out sharing.
