How can you evaluate a potential employer's leadership training?
In my experience, leadership is not imbued upon reaching a certain title, seniority, or time served. It is a mindset that drives leadership actions. Leadership can be demonstrated from any member of an organization or team, and when that behavior is rewarded within the organization...then you know you have a great culture for leadership. Be wary of avoiding a position with in a company because you have doubts about leadership culture. This could be an excellent opportunity for you to be the change you desire in the organization!

How can you evaluate a potential employer's leadership training?
I believe the hiring process is a key indicator of how an organization's leadership will perform after the hire. Are they clear in the process? Are they using specific and clearly communicating timelines and expectations? Do you feel consistency in their message and culture? Do they match their words with their actions? I believe in the quote from Martha Beck, "The way you do anything is the way you do everything."

How can you evaluate a potential employer's leadership training?
An enlightening query to pose would be, "Tell me about the three most recent promotions your organization has had into a leadership role, please be as specific as possible." What were the qualities that were identified that made those promotions a great decision? What has been the result of these promotions? If an organization cannot proudly speak to promotions into leadership roles, it is most likely this is not a culture that is conducive to leadership development or recognition.

How can you evaluate a potential employer's leadership training?
Might be offending some folks here...however I love to find out if folks I'm going to be working with have played and had success in team sports or collaborative projects outside of work. If a leader can be effective with volunteers or team members where pay for work is not an incentive device, I've noticed that they make much better leaders.
