Through this initiative, Wonder Transit X will be introduced across Koon Wing Motors’ (Hong Kong’s largest green minibus operator) green minibus services, including routes serving the new Huanggang Port. The deployment brings together diverse digital payments, smart fare management capabilities, and operational tools designed specifically for public transport. For passengers, the objective is straightforward: make everyday journeys easier. Residents, Mainland visitors and international travellers can seamlessly settle fares using a comprehensive suite of digital payment solutions tailored to their preferences, including Weixin Pay, PayMe, UnionPay, UnionPay app, JCB, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Diners, and BOC Pay, reducing the need for cash and making cross-boundary travel more convenient. For operators, digitalising fare collection is about more than accepting additional payment methods. It creates a stronger operational foundation: clearer transaction records, more flexible fare configuration and better visibility over day-to-day route performance. As connectivity between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland continues to deepen, practical mobility infrastructure matters. Green minibuses are an essential part of Hong Kong’s transport network and often provide the important connection between communities, border points and major transport hubs. Jason Ngan liked thisJason Ngan liked thisCommercial robotaxi finally arrives Europe. And the trio delivering it is telling: a Chinese company, Uber, and a European operator. The Guangzhou firm Pony.ai (NASDAQ: PONY) and Uber announced they'll put over 2,000 robotaxis across five European cities, starting from a service already running in Zagreb, Croatia. Most people read this as China expanding. I read it as a masterclass in how a high-tech company enters a hard market without owning it. Pony.ai brings the technology. Uber brings the APP with payments. Verne, a Croatian firm, owns and runs the cars. A win-win-win partnership. The model makes the complicated business case happen. What most people miss is the years these firms spent at home. China runs the world's busiest robotaxi market. Baidu's Apollo Go has logged over 330 million autonomous kilometers and 22 million paid rides. Another Guangzhou firm WeRide runs over a thousand vehicles across Chinese cities and nine countries. Pony.ai itself is past 100 million kilometers of road testing. Wuhan opened paid robotaxi service back in 2022. That kind of real, fare-paying volume teaches a speed of iteration and a grip on cost no showcase ever will. Pony.ai says it already hits city-wide breakeven in several Chinese cities. Their CEO James Peng puts its hardware cost at a quarter to a fifth of Waymo's. Two things came together and make it real in Europe. A Chinese AI firm entered Europe with flexibility, partnering instead of dominating. And it arrived battle-tested from the world's busiest autonomy market.
