🚨Exclusive: Swiggy’s Snacc, Blue Tokai sever ties over pricing, strategy mismatch Swiggy’s 15-minute food delivery app Snacc has ended its partnership with Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, barely three months after it was announced. The tie-up, which helped Snacc gain initial traction by getting the ball rolling for its 15-minute food delivery play, was called off after both companies failed to align on key aspects such as pricing, menu strategy, and broader execution goals. The partnership, announced in January this year – days after Snacc’s launch, allowed the app’s users to order from a curated range of Blue Tokai’s specialty coffee offerings, delivered in under 15 minutes. Swiggy posted a Rs.1,197 Cr loss last quarter. Now it wants to fix that with DeskEats. This is Swiggy’s new product aimed mainly at your work desk. It’s a curated menu of snacks and meals designed for office folks. They're quick to eat, easy to share, and meant to be consumed between meetings or over calls. But this isn’t just a quirky branding exercise. It’s a business decision. You see, food delivery in India is actually getting expensive. Fuel costs, partner incentives, and marketing spends are all inching up. And to make matters worse, demand is peaking only during lunch and dinner hours. That’s where DeskEats comes in. By focusing on office hubs like tech parks, co-working spaces, dense corporate zones, Swiggy can bunch multiple orders together, reduce delivery times, and cut costs per order. This can flatten the delivery curve, smooth out idle hours, and nudges higher frequency throughout the day. But DeskEats also sits atop Swiggy’s Corporate Rewards Program. It’s a B2B play that lets companies offer food perks to employees. And with 14,000+ firms already onboarded, DeskEats can piggyback on that network to drive repeat orders without spending much on ads. That’s a plus because last quarter, Swiggy’s ad and promo expenses jumped 130% YoY. And if desk meals become a habit, that’s future revenue with lower acquisition cost. It even opens the door to something called 'corporate lock-in', where once your team is used to DeskEats, switching becomes a hassle. But will it work? Well, not everyone wants to eat at their desk. The promise of "𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴" just hit a reality check in India🚦 As a product guy, I've been closely watching how delivery timelines have shifted across platforms lately, and the data is telling: What we're seeing: - 1-day deliveries → 2-3 days - 5-10 day promises → 7-14 days   - 15-20 minute hyperlocal → 25-30 minutes - 25-30 minute slots → 35-40 minutes 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀:  • Acute truck shortages due to GST revamp  • Pre-festive inventory stocking strain  • Stretched transport fleets nationwide  • Supply bottlenecks from warehouse hold-ups This isn't just one company's problem - it's an industry-wide recalibration happening across e-commerce and hyperlocal platforms. At Flash, we strive to be transparent with our customers about charges and to set real expectations. Our competitors continue to surprise our merchants with their Superman-rider pitches and out-of-this-world SOPs. We still believe solving logistics is to solve how transparently a journey from point A to point B is communicated to the end user.
