“Sid was excellent to work with. He was always well organized and very enthusiastic. I worked with Sid on an Agile Software project and he always had command of what his team was working on. Each daily standup meeting Sid knew exactly the work that was needed to be done, rallied his team behind the work, and was able to reach across the program to help remove blockers.”

Designing an Upper-Body Exo-Suit for Automotive Manufacturing
-
Project Exo-Suit’s goal was to reduce the effort and fatigue felt by automotive mechanics during their daily routine work, which often involves confined spaces and awkward positions. To best address their needs, several engineering design methodologies and tools were deployed in order to design an optimal solution.

Economic Analysis of Rebate Programs for Solar Energy in California
-
See projectThe state of California is well-known for implementing government-sponsored renewable
energy incentivization programs. These include large amounts of tax credits, rebates, and grants to
increase the percentage of energy generated through renewable sources. The state set a goal of
sourcing 50% of its total energy using renewable energy by 2030, and was currently on track to meet
this goal with a present renewable percentage of 29% as of 2016.

In this project, the HOMER software was used to assess the economic feasibility of energy solutions for a tenant-occupied building in Benicia, California. Energy usage for the building and potential power sources was modeled and the economics of available rebate programs was assessed. -
Optimizing the Deployment of Renewable Energies for Rural Electrification in Zambia

In this project, the HOMER software package was used in order to inform the theoretical
implementation of a small-scale electrification project in the Manyinga district of Western Zambia.
The main aim of the project is to increase the economic productivity of the region by installing
sawmills to allow for the processing of raw wood from the nearby forests.
The project worked towards identifying the most optimal sources of
energy based on the needs of the village and the geographical and economic factors which
determine the possible energy sources to consider. -
Modeling a Parallel Hybrid Powertrain for Self-Driving Fleet

The motivation behind the conversion to a hybrid stems from reaping the benefits of the higher fuel economy. This would benefit the customer (the company operating the autonomous vehicle fleet) in two ways:
1. It would allow them to reduce down time spent on refueling and driving passengers
2. It would reduce overall cost of fuel for the fleet.
The attached project report details background research, component sizing and selection process, control strategy design, and Simulink modeling and results.
