One of the most beloved resorts in New England, The Woodstock Inn & Resort, is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to join the team.
Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Chief Engineer will lead the overall efforts of all Resort maintenance facilities (POMEC & POD less grounds), employees and contractors. Responsible for budget management, departmental scheduling, human resource management and systems management while achieving the overall performance standards of the department in the areas of resort maintenance, cleanliness, sanitation, safety and general ambience. The Assistant Chief Engineer will be fluent in all processes for which each maintenance employee is responsible as well as all maintenance employee functions.
The Assistant Chief Engineer, will efficiently conduct, delegate and supervise all functions of the Resort Maintenance Operations. Will be available for emergencies and counseling at all times. Deploy internal maintenance resources as deemed necessary and make determinations if outside contract labor is required. Assist with preparation of annual budget for payroll, revenues and expenses for the POMEC department. Maintain expert knowledge of all services provided by the resort. Be responsible for department standards training program. Document training and coach employees on trained tasks. Attend all training workshops required for managers and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Fluency in all resort and other facility mechanicals
- High school graduate.
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical operations experience.
- Ability to function all resort mechanical equipment (i.e. Pumps, Heating and HVAC systems, Boilers, Chillers, Pool and Whirlpool mechanicals, etc.)
- Ability to:
- Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
- Prioritize and organize.
- Be a clear thinker, remain calm, and resolve problems using rational judgment.
- Provide and follow directions and instructions thoroughly.
- Work cohesively with department managers, supervisors and co-workers as part of a team.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest and employee information as well as pertinent hotel data and information.
- Be a self-starter, committed to high standards, and a team leader of all maintenance operations.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
All areas of mechanical responsibility including The Inn, Woodstock Golf Club, Spa, Athletic Club, employee housing, and Saskadena Six Ski Area.
