Summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Director of Manufacturing to lead and oversee operations in our client's US and Costa Rica locations. This role requires strategic leadership and effective management of all manufacturing employees, focusing on enhancing productivity and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and collaborate across departments to meet company goals. A strong background in manufacturing, particularly in a medical device environment, along with proven leadership and process improvement expertise, is essential.


Location

Based in the St. Louis, MO area with up to 30% domestic and international travel required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership to the Manufacturing organization to ensure consistent attainment of the expected results.
  • Lead and develop his/her staff, driving accountability, decision-making, and enterprise-wide collaboration.
  • Provide input on the Manufacturing strategic initiatives and execute the deliverables.
  • Lead operational enhancements, such as labor productivity, capacity augmentation, throughput improvements, and Lean/Six Sigma, improve upon and create processes and procedures.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline operations, including the use of resources and materials.
  • Communicate openly with cross-functional management staff to resolve problems and obstacles.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in Manufacturing operations that could negatively impact cost, quality and/or the delivery of products to customers.
  • Ensure employee safety through adherence to appropriate environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Quality Organization to ensure optimal quality results are achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s regulatory policies.
  • Establish and effectively manage department operating budgets for all Manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with Finance on the development of product Standard Cost, Value of Production (VOP), COGS, and OCOS for the annual budget.
  • Utilize the S&OP process, and effectively collaborate with all S&OP stakeholders on the supply of goods to optimize the attainment of production schedules.
  • Create all necessary Manufacturing metrics, KPIs, and goals to measure actual performance, and take the necessary actions to achieve established goals.
  • Engage with the design, construction, qualification, and start-up of new production lines and processes
  • Ensure the Company maintains its production facilities at a high standard of readiness (validated, calibrated, qualified, and continually operational).


Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical), MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record, a minimum of 5 years, in demonstrated leadership, people development, and attainment of company goals.
  • Change agent and innovator, with experience in a process-oriented assembly manufacturer, with process improvement methodology experience (Lean, Six Sigma, ISO) Certifications preferred.
  • Collaborative and highly interactive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (both in groups and one-on-one interaction).
  • Self-sufficient and displays a solution-oriented mindset and work approach.
  • Agile and organized working style to manage and consistently prioritize key initiatives.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
