Logical positioning
If you have 100 buses or trucks in your depot – maybe with all of them parked up overnight – knowing the exact location of number 73 when you need it can be more than a bit of a headache.
Sure, there are solutions: trackers, transmitters, lists, clipboards, people who go and look. But none of these solutions is fool-proof, some of them are massively expensive, and you can’t quite shift the feeling that there has to be a better way.
There is a better way – the Observit way!
We are, first and foremost, a software company. Good software solves real-world problems, making your life easier without the need for new hardware – and that is just what we have devised.
A fresh and complete new Vehicle Positioning System
Chances are, you already have forward-facing cameras or sensors in your vehicles. We can wake your cameras up to enable them to do more, reducing your need for additional servers or network recorders. Just one of the benefits of adopting this innovative and cost-effective approach is the ability to add intelligent positioning software.
Why is this unique?
At any one time, we are using up to three sources of information for your bus or truck (or any vehicle at all) to be able to tell you where it is. The first is GPS, which you will already be familiar with. Great for vehicles on the road, but limited in specificity when parked up in columns, and no use at all in underground or multi-storey parking.
Our unique solution adds to this with relational positioning. If the front sensor ‘sees’ another number plate that it recognises, then the bus ‘knows’ that it is behind another vehicle – and which vehicle that is.
Finally, we complete the triangulation with logical positioning. If you have a sensor on your garage door, this will detect your known number-plate. Our system will know that your vehicle has entered ‘garage’. Just as easily, our software can recognise strategic places around your depot to tell you where the vehicle is. This could be that it has entered column three, or level B3 – for example – within the known zone of ‘garage’.
The sky is the limit here – you can be as precise, specific and detailed as you need to be. With our system you can know which vehicles are in for cleaning or maintenance, which bay they sit in, and how long they have been there. And you can tailor these descriptors to your individual needs.
You can even add actions within our system that are set to implement on the device when a vehicle enters or leaves any zone or sub-zone.
Mind-blowing? Or just a logical and affordable solution to a common problem for any busy depot?
