Many say that AI/LLMs are creative. But are they really? What sparks creativity in humans? - Being open-minded - Exposing oneself to new situations - Letting go of traditional ways of doing things - Curiosity - Interacting with new activities (Do you have anything to add?) AIs/LLMs are sophisticated machine learning systems built on the foundation of math and statistics. They rely on the way they are trained and the datasets they are trained on. There can be traces of human creativity found in training data, which might suggest that they can be creative. The goal of an AI system is to perform a wide range of tasks with increasing accuracy and sophistication. The best example of this is OpenAI's new model series, o1. A CoT system that excels in reasoning. It seems as if the goal of an AI system is to mimic a logical thinker. A logical thinker is someone who relies on traditional ways of doing things and seeks to improve them to perfection. They are not as open to risk as creative thinkers, who are always on the search for something new and innovative. Now, this is where it gets interesting. Creative thinkers need to apply logic to implement their creativity into the real world. An AI system combined with a creative thinker... What a powerful force, don't you think?
