I think we need to aim higher now that we are in this latter part of the first decade of #quantumcomputing being available on the cloud and directly. I think 1,000 physical qubits are great, but are they REALLY GOOD, sufficiently connected, completely functional qubits? My challenge is therefore for the industry to achieve 1,000 qubits that have all the characteristics to work well with circuits of depth 10,000. Of course, we have to define "work well," but it's time to set goals that will show we have turned the corner toward future, practical quantum computing systems. Small computers doing small jobs represent progress, but they are not convincing enough yet.
