I was really surprised at how many Solid-State battery companies there are now. Of course, (almost) everyone knows #QuantumScape and #SolidPower by now. But who else is out there? What other promising players are there? I have conducted a comprehensive analysis of the Solid-State market in 2024. What emerged is a list of over 40 companies, some of which are worth several billion dollars. - 🌏 Which regions of the world are furthest along with their developments? - ⚗ Which technologies are the manufacturers relying on? - ⚡ What energy densities do they want to achieve? In two pieces of secondary legislation, minimum requirements shall be introduced regarding performance and durability of LMT (e.g. e-bike) and industrial batteries (incl. stationary storage). 💡 This brand-new Technical Report is part of the technical input that the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is providing to support the preparation of secondary legislation. ⏳ The upcoming JRC work will involve further reports, observation of standardization activities, stakeholder consultations, and assistance during legal text drafting.
