☝ Let's be honest with each other today... ... do you actually run all of your services on Kubernetes? 🤔 Well, if you don't, you are not alone. 👯 Sometimes, it's because you haven't gotten around to it yet (maybe you have a lot of them!), and sometimes, it's simply the wrong choice to run that service on Kubernetes. The reality is that many of us have services inside and outside Kubernetes and together they make up systems. So managing incoming traffic to both services in Kubernetes and outside of Kubernetes is now easier with Envoy Gateway 1.1 because you can use the Backend API to define the services external to Kubernetes by FQDN or IP. P.S. If you've paid attention to my other videos, this is the same Backend API that makes it easy for you to access external processes via UDS 😉 #kubernetes #envoyproxy #envoygateway #apis #microservices #cloudarchitecture #cloud

🤔 Wouldn’t it be great if there were a clearly defined API and a clear separation between the tasks for end-users and the platform itself? 👏 The Crossplane project offers just this! Viktor Farcic explains how in “Crossplane: the Cloud Native Control Plane”. Get it for free here ➡️

Did you know? Portainer is a universal, multi-cluster manager, meaning we manage clusters of any type, anywhere (Docker and Kubernetes, running on Dev Laptops, in your DC, in the Cloud, at the Edge), and we don't require you to run any specific Kubernetes Distro. In this regard, we provide a unified user experience regardless. This makes adopting hybrid/multi-cloud deployments much quicker, and even allows you to mix Docker and Kubernetes endpoints. This is part of a series of messages we’re sharing this month to test whether we should revise our website messaging - we’d love to know if you knew Portainer could do this and any further feedback you might have.

Delving deep into Hosted Control Plane options for Kubernetes akin to those provided by cloud giants such as EKS, GKE, and AKS, we've stumbled upon a treasure trove of tools like Kamaji, KCP, and Hypershift. Our team is currently in the trenches, evaluating these tools for the deployment of a valued customer. Stay tuned for more updates on our journey navigating the realm of Hosted Control Plane solutions for Kubernetes. Kubernetes has completed its largest code cleanup to date, removing over 1 million lines of Cloud Provider code! 🎉 The new PR is part of KEP-2395 which has been in-the-works since 2017. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this important project! The removal of Cloud Provider code is part of a series of efforts to move vendor-specific code “out-of-tree,” meaning those features won’t come with Kubernetes out-of-the-box. The functionality may continue to be available via optional controllers. The team did a session about the change at KubeCon EU 2024: Additional resources about this exciting change include: KEP-2395: https://lnkd.in/gFgRUZhx The PR itself: https://lnkd.in/gU7ZcTxN Blog from 2019 about the reasoning behind the change: https://lnkd.in/gpZpcKQd Blog about setting cloud provider code to disabled by default in v1.29: https://lnkd.in/dShqgYG3 The March 2024 Spotlight blog on SIG Cloud Provider: https://lnkd.in/gqXze2jK
