🚨Josh Felser, Raj Kapoor and Peter Sun closed their Climactic I fund of $65 million 🚨 The fund already invested in 13 portfolio companies and will focus on the intersection of software, AI and climate. The most important part is that the team include founder with real entrepreneurial experience to help founder build software for our planet earth 🌍. climactic also has two advisors who are helping navigating science and environment by Paul Hawkins🚀 and policy by Van Jones. Some of their LPs include Reid Hoffman from Greylock Chris Sacca from Lowercarbon Capital and. Ev Williams from Obvious Ventures and funds like Mayfield Fund and NFX (Gigi Levy-Weiss ). I believ that we must use the experience we have in building software to accelerate the energy transition and fight on climate. Mind blown. This is impressive and expansive watching. I would love to know what my LI friends think of this. Watch, take notes 📝 and tell me your take outs - we can compare notes! 1. A model for thinking about the high level phases we must move through and some of the conceptual barriers we must break through to get to net generative, positive impact to nature 2. A nice simple economic reasoning to propel the effectiveness of disruption (productivity leverage) - using the energy of capitalism to move past it 3. A ‘tech bro’ describing the challenge of shifting a western worldview of valuing things as nouns (inputs - entirely currently created from mined or grown compounds) to verbs (ecological systems that generate everything we need) - and giving a great example of how indigenous worldviews inherently operate in the ‘verb’ modality - and the wisdom and opportunity ahead if we only honoured indigenous traditions and practices.
