📚💡Founders are often asked if they are building a tech company or tech-enabled company. Understanding this distinction and what kind of company they are building can guide some key decisions for founders. In this blog, Catalyst Fund venture builders Ngetha Mwangi and Kevin Rejko break down the differences and describe how this distinction can help founders make the right choices for their ventures: https://lnkd.in/dSDBHuBA #VentureBuilding #ClimateResilience Maelis Carraro, Maxime Bayen, Rasima Swarup, Javier Linares, Gabriel Abagalana, Valiullah Hashmi, Charles I. 🙏🏼 Kindness is my strategy - Climate, AI & Impact investing - Senior Advisor to VCs and PEs | NED | Venture Capitalist | 4X Founder | Built 2XCVCs | Speaker | Author | Lecturer | Executive Coach
🚨Josh Felser, Raj Kapoor and Peter Sun closed their Climactic I fund of $65 million 🚨 The fund already invested in 13 portfolio companies and will focus on the intersection of software, AI and climate. The most important part is that the team include founder with real entrepreneurial experience to help founder build software for our planet earth 🌍. climactic also has two advisors who are helping navigating science and environment by Paul Hawkins🚀 and policy by Van Jones. Some of their LPs include Reid Hoffman from Greylock Chris Sacca from Lowercarbon Capital and. Ev Williams from Obvious Ventures and funds like Mayfield Fund and NFX (Gigi Levy-Weiss ). I believ that we must use the experience we have in building software to accelerate the energy transition and fight on climate. Hardware alone will not solve it and definitely not in the right pace. https://lnkd.in/e-VH-edN #venturecapital #newfund #software #funding #startupfunding #impactinvesting #climatetech

Ever wish you could give your younger self a heads-up? Here is what Sten Tamkivi would tell his 10-year younger VC self. Early-stage is about founders. But don't focus just on their skills. Make sure their mission truly resonates. Even if the business model seems basic. A talented team solving a mundane problem can be a dead end. Sten is a Partner of Plural. I help your business or not-for-profit get clarity💡, get direction 🧭, get noticed 📣 and create impact 🚀
Mind blown. This is impressive and expansive watching. I would love to know what my LI friends think of this. Watch, take notes 📝 and tell me your take outs - we can compare notes! 1. A model for thinking about the high level phases we must move through and some of the conceptual barriers we must break through to get to net generative, positive impact to nature 2. A nice simple economic reasoning to propel the effectiveness of disruption (productivity leverage) - using the energy of capitalism to move past it 3. A ‘tech bro’ describing the challenge of shifting a western worldview of valuing things as nouns (inputs - entirely currently created from mined or grown compounds) to verbs (ecological systems that generate everything we need) - and giving a great example of how indigenous worldviews inherently operate in the ‘verb’ modality - and the wisdom and opportunity ahead if we only honoured indigenous traditions and practices. Absolute stonker this interview - get comfy and dive in, you won’t regret it…
A rare interview with the formidable Tom Chi, founding partner of At One Ventures, which seeks to “catalyze a world where humanity is a net positive to nature.” Tom discusses the "three epochs of ecological technologies", and how his approach to venture capital is to disrupt the industries doing the most damage to nature. Watch it now: https://lnkd.in/gV74h-2B

Co-founder@magicsauce.online - getting underestimated founders funded and investors better deal flow
Time to peek behind the curtain! Really useful if you're new to early stage investing, or just wondered what investors were looking at when they reviewed a deck tomorrow **27 June at 12pm BST**. We're doing a live deck review for Umazi. A due diligence platform that becomes a digital due dil passport for individuals and organisations wherever they need to prove their identity. Already has some early validation and they are raising now with preferential terms for early-stage investors Join us as Cindy van Niekerk gives us a brief elevator pitch of what she's doing before 3 Angels (and me) run through the deck as a stream of consciousness as a collab between Diversity-X, Raise Ventures and Magic Sauce Online. Three organisations committed to getting more underestimated founders funded! There'll also be time for some Q&A with the founder afterwards. Grab a coffee, a bite to eat and join this virtual session to get into what investors are looking for when they see a deck. Drop a DM with your email for an exclusive invite to this free event. #lunchandlearn #startupstories #angelinvestment
