You might also see roles titled “Technical Communicator,” “Information Developer,” “Documentation Specialist,” or “Technical Author.” These titles may vary, but the expertise remains the same—delivering clear, concise, and impactful content.

Code and documentation are a job for two people, and here's why: Developers are too close to the code. This closeness is both a strength and a stumbling block regarding documentation. Sometimes, they struggle to zoom out and see the bigger picture from the user's perspective. As a Technical Writer, you can be hired to explain something you've never done before 😂 That's completely normal with this job. You just have to study/practice the task, understand it as much as you can, and simplify the explanation as well as you can. This is why "the ability to understand complex concepts and explain them in simple terms" is one of the essential qualities of a good Technical Writer.
