Bill Board is a character introduced in Super Mario Galaxy. He is an old, sentient, talking board who commonly appears teaching Mario (or Luigi) how to ride and control the Star Ball.
History[edit]
Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
Bill Board first appears in the Rolling Green Galaxy on the starting planet, where he teaches the player how to use the Star Ball for the first time. If the player enters the mission again, however, he instead asks whether they would like to be taught again. When the player is on the Star Ball, it is possible to knock Bill Board flat against the ground, though he rights himself shortly afterward. He later reappears during the Melty Molten Galaxy's mission "Through the Meteor Storm" and in the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy, where, in both galaxies, he reminds Mario how to control the Star Ball and asks if he has met him before. Bill Board makes another appearance during the celebration in the Grand Finale Galaxy alongside several other characters. Here, he recognizes Mario and tells him that he lives in a nice world, and that he would be able to enjoy it more if he were not a sign.
Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]
Bill Board reappears in Super Mario Galaxy 2, where he appears in the Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy and the Battle Belt Galaxy. In the Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy, he appears on the Tamakoro Planet starting planet, once again teaching Mario how to ride and control the Star Ball, similarly to the previous game. In the Battle Belt Galaxy, Bill Board appears on the Li'l Cinder Planet, explaining the galaxy’s premise, in which the player progresses exclusively by defeating all enemies in the current area.
