Bounce from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Mario triggering Bounce by striking a Sherbet Buckler (and friendly-firing Rabbid Luigi) with his Melee weapon. Since Bucklers rely on a shotgun-like damage spread that deals more damage the closer they are, Bounce hinders their effectiveness by forcing them farther away.

Bounce is a volatile Super Effect in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Depending on the weapon used against them, the inflicted character will be bounced a few cells in the direction they were shot, ignoring battlefield boundaries and inflicted with an "out of bounds" damage bonus should they travel out of bounds. Inflicted characters are also made vulnerable to Hero Sight-esque techniques. Bounce is one of the three Super Effects that force movement, with the other two being Push and Burn.

Bounce's ability to disrupt turns and positioning makes it an appealing status condition. A well-placed Bounce on enemies can force them outside cover and force them to waste valuable movement to try to reposition and reduce opportunities for them to take better spots. Bounce may invite disadvantages, however, such as knocking enemies into cover or hitting them out of range from teammates (Bounce, however, is still a more reliable Super Effect than Burn or Push). Some situations leave other Special Effects more desirable. For instance, Mario's weapons can proc Bounce, but Honey, for instance, when procing from Hero Sight, can stop enemies in the middle of their turn and rendering them exposed to attacks. Mario additionally has a heavily damaging short-ranged weapon, and Bounce may force enemies away from him.

Mario's, Luigi's, and Donkey Kong's weapons can proc Bounce. The procs can also happen if Mario and Luigi trigger Hero Sight and Steely Stare, respectively.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Bounce is replaced with Splash except inflicted characters are bounced every time they are hit by an attack until the end of the turn.

Notes[edit]

  • The statistics of Tropical Bucklers claim that they cause the Bounce Super Effect through their Boom Dashes, but this is not true - it only causes damage.
