The Kinopio Slot[1] minigame is a Toad House minigame taking place inside Red Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It involves placing three Baby Yoshis into slots to determine the type and amount of power-ups earned.
Instructions[edit]
These Baby Yoshis are hungry for panels! When I blow the whistle, bring one Baby Yoshi of each color over here.
The right combination of panels will earn you up to two items. But don't you dare bring me any
!
Gameplay[edit]
Three Balloon Baby Yoshis, three Bubble Baby Yoshis, and three Glowing Baby Yoshis stand on top of three color-coordinated platforms. When the minigame starts, each Baby Yoshi eats a panel and starts walking on its platform. The Baby Yoshis randomly turn, bump into each other, and hop over one another, causing their order to continuously change.
The following panels are given:
| Baby Yoshi | Panels | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Balloon Baby Yoshi | |||
| Bubble Baby Yoshi | ×1 | ×1 | ×2 |
| Glowing Baby Yoshi | |||
The player must select panels by picking up the Baby Yoshi that has eaten a given panel and placing it into a slot. To do so, the player must throw the Baby Yoshi towards the right side of the screen, where it will walk into one of three color-coded slots. Once a Baby Yoshi has been placed into slots, its brethren of the same color will stop moving and look away.
After all slots have been filled and thus a panel of each type has been chosen, the Baby Yoshis spit out their panels in order. The combination of panels will determine the reward: one or two power-ups of the selected type can be given. However, if a Bowser panel has been selected, the player will not receive any reward.
Notes[edit]
- In the Wii U versions of the game, the Toad panels featured alternate artwork featuring only Toad's head.
