Atheists Volunteer FOOD DISTRIBUTION! Come help and give out food!
[Atheists United](www.atheistsunited.org), California's largest grassroots atheist nonprofit, is fighting the emergency food crisis with our partners [Sunday Assembly Los Angeles](www.sundayassemblyla.com) by hosting a food distribution in Los Angeles outside our offices. We've partnered with the LA Food Bank and give out over 3,000lbs of food each event. **We need volunteers to help us assemble and organize food packages from 12pm - 5pm every third Friday.** From 3:30pm - 5pm volunteers will help hand food out directly to those in need in the neighborhood. From 5pm - 6pm we'll clean up and celebrate everything we accomplished together. Music and snacks will make it well worth your time. If you'd like to be a super volunteer, contact us about showing up at 10am to help with setup! **[If you're able to make a donation to our Food Distribution program please text the code "AUFOOD" to 44-321, or click here](https://secure.givelively.org/donate/atheists-united/support-atheists-united-s-food-distributions). All donations go to helping us feed our community or expand our impact.** **\*\*Food:** Snacks will be provided free for volunteers. We also hope you join us for dinner at a local restaurant after the event. **\*\*Safety:** COVID-19 is extremely dangerous and we prioritize the safety of our volunteers and food recipients. AI, Art and Media - StrangeNew.World @ 310 Coffee
AI, Art and Media - StrangeNew.World @ 310 Coffee
We are a community of **artists, thinkers, technicians, and curious minds** from all walks of life exploring how technology can serve human flourishing in 2026! Whether if you're an AI enthusiast or skeptic, a creative professional or someone just beginning to navigate our rapidly changing world, this group is for you! The conversations we have at our **“support group for the technological singularity”** are designed to meet everyone at their level of understanding - no technical background required, just an open mind and genuine curiosity about our collective future. How do we preserve community, creativity, connection, and purpose in this new age? Our focus for 2026 is to build out our community into somewhere between a participatory lab, an art salon and a social group. So we will be talking about and experimenting with LLMs, vibe coding and AI generated imagery and sound. We discuss the ethical and cultural implications of this new powerful set of tools as well as trade tips, discuss use cases and share workflows for getting the most out of this new era. We are also open to discussing anything relating to technology, culture, and the arts. Our meetings have a super casual and open atmosphere where all are welcome to contribute. Feel free to come late or leave early. And I will (as always) be encouraging people to create art and will be translating for non-geeks. So, no matter if you love technology, or if you think it is destroying the very fabric of our society, or if you are just starting to experiment with AI to help better market yourself or your business, we would love to help get you started and/or learn more about your experiences. **Here is a list of the typical topics…** **AI in Media** * Deepfakes, propaganda and the future of media * AI ethics and copyright law * Will AI destroy Hollywood or save it? * Accessibility and story telling **For the Creators (new media and old)** * Discuss releases of AI tools and services * Tips and techniques for prompting * Voicing and animating your characters * Editing and the AI visual effects revolution * Combining traditional filmmaking with AI * How to go viral, fund raising, and SMM **For the Haters (who are welcome)** * Is using AI cheating, where is the line? * Is AI art soulless? What gives art a soul? * How will younger people learn w/o “putting in the work” * How to us AI ethically **AI for Social Change** * The changing job market. What skills will matter in 10 years? * Demonization of knowledge and resources * The 2nd Cognitive Revolution, emergent intelligence * A new age of inhuman efficiency * Unemployment, UBI and the future of “work”

Online meditation with Dean Sluyter: Friday edition
Online meditation with Dean Sluyter: Friday edition
A weekly meditation series -- conducted online via Zoom -- with the co-founder of our sangha, Dean Sluyter. Dean has led hundreds of meditation workshops and is the author of Natural Meditation, Fear Less, The Zen Commandments, Cinema Nirvana, and other books. To learn more and register, [go to this page ](https://deansluyter.com/interactive-zoom-sessions/)on Dean's website. Here is Dean's description of the meditation: This is a great way to stay (or become!) calm, sane, and happy in these strange times. First, through guided practice of natural meditation, we settle within ourselves and connect with our inmost core of *just being —* the place of infinite OK-ness. Then, in the discussion, we address questions about meditation practice and integrating that inner OK-ness into everyday life. New participants are always welcome. No experience, skill, attitude, or belief is required. The sessions are free and open to everyone, anywhere in the world. For a quick preview of the effortlessness of natural meditation, go [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XGuDDgnCU4). Anyone can meditate.
Ladies Lunch and Guided Discussion
Ladies Lunch and Guided Discussion
Left leaning politics are a focus. I know that having Chinese food every week may be boring to some people, but here are the reasons why I'm keeping this location: * Free parking * Reasonably priced * Separate checks * A really nice conference room * Great location * More new people from other parts of the city * 10 minutes from Brentwood in the middle of the day. The salads are good, or come and just have tea if you don't want Chinese food. Check out menu at [https://order.pfchangs.com](https://order.pfchangs.com/)\|
"We Outside!" Culver City Stairs Group Workout
"We Outside!" Culver City Stairs Group Workout
**On Friday's, we take on the iconic Culver City Stairs for an intense, full-body stair-climbing session that pushes every muscle, boosts cardiovascular health, and strengthens our group’s bond through shared grit and determination.** *** \-\- Incorporating stair climbing into your fitness routine can contribute to improved physical fitness\, strength\, and overall well\-being\. A stairs workout offers several benefits for physical fitness and overall health: • CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH: Climbing stairs is an excellent aerobic exercise that gets your heart rate up, improving cardiovascular health, increasing stamina, and boosting overall endurance. • Leg strength: Stair climbing engages various muscle groups in the legs, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes. Over time, this can lead to improved leg strength, muscle tone, and endurance. • CALORIE BURNING: Stair climbing is a calorie-intensive exercise that can help with weight management and fat loss. It burns more calories per minute than many other forms of aerobic exercise, making it an efficient way to burn energy. • LOW IMPACT: Unlike activities like running or jumping, stair climbing is low impact, which means it puts less stress on the joints. This makes it a suitable workout option for individuals with joint pain or those recovering from injuries. • CONVENIENCE: Stairs are often readily available in various settings, such as homes, office buildings, parks, or public spaces. This makes stair climbing a convenient workout option that can be easily incorporated into daily routines. • IMPROVED BALANCE AND COORDINATION: Negotiating stairs requires coordination and balance, which can improve with regular stair climbing workouts. This can be particularly beneficial for older adults in reducing the risk of falls and maintaining mobility. • MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS: Exercise, including stair climbing, has been shown to release endorphins, which can improve mood and reduce stress and anxiety levels. Additionally, the sense of accomplishment from completing a challenging stair workout can boost self-esteem and confidence. *** EQUIPMENT NEEDED: • Water bottle • Sweat towel *** REGISTRATION: [BlackFolk.net/Workout](BlackFolk.net/Workout) (it's free)

Simple, weekly church gathering
Simple, weekly church gathering
At Bloom Church, we believe in: * **God -** We believe in the God of the Bible – creator, son and Holy Spirit – and seek God in all aspects of our lives * **Scripture** \- We value the Bible as a way to know God’s heart and history\, while honoring interpretation as complex * **Discipleship** \- We seek to follow the example of Jesus in the way we live\, treat others\, and impact our communities Our gatherings consist of singing worship songs, taking communion, discussion and prayer. All of our voices matter, and we want to use our time to interact with each other. Instead of listening to a sermon in a group setting, we use our time together to actively participate in a spiritual practice or by discussing a sermon or podcast that is sent out and listened to during the week. If this resonates with you, we'd love to have you join us! Learn more at BloomChurchLA.com
