Can We Talk Baby Nursery Wall Murals!

Photo and Design from Tuff & Trim / Wall Mural by Susan Harter Muralpaper

I love adding those extra special design elements to a baby nursery. When you add layers to a design, it feels like you have stepped into a room that feels magical and tells a story. A childโ€™s nursery is no different. Some rooms are bold with strong colors and patterns and others are filled with soft hues of pastels with flowers and cuddly stuffed animals. It really despends on our style preference.

Wallpaper has made a huge comeback this year. Itโ€™s BIG! I absolutely adore all the different styles out on the market right now. But for me, I like to just wallpaper an accent wall. Why? I have a tendency to change the colors in my home fairly often and wallpaper really does make you commit to a certain color scheme for a long time. Removing wallpaper is certainly a big process. If you absolutely LOVE wallpaper and donโ€™t mind the committment, then I would say go for it. But, if you are like me, go for a accent wall that will bring your room design to that next level.

Another BIG trend today is beautiful mural accent wallsโ€ฆ itโ€™s the rage. I have been planning a baby shower and wanted to see the colors the mother-to-be would be using in her nursery and it got me to thinking.

I love what murals can do for the design of a baby nursery. They add an extra layer of depth, color, texture and helps create a theme for your babyโ€™s room or for that matter, any room in your house.

Murals come in different materials depending on your needs.

Some murals are strickly wallpaper and are made of paper or museum quality canvas such as this one from Susan Harter Muralpaper. You would need to apply them to your wall just like any other wallpaper application. Often times a professional paperhanger would be hired. I have to admit that I am completely in love with this line of wallpaper murals. YES please!

Other types of murals are great for people who live in apartments or lofts and donโ€™t want to damage walls. They are made of a Polyester Fabric, are self adhesive and can be taken off easily and re-used for another time. What I like about this type is that there is no residue left on the wall after it is removed. You just simply apply the mural after you peel off the back paper and then stick it on the wall.

Of course, there is always wall decals you can find on etsy.com if you prefer to forgo the murals. The number of decal styles out on the web are numerous and simply gorgeous!
