Let's Party Card by January Guest Designer Peggy Emmerink-Moonen
My name is Peggy Emmerink-Moonen. I am 36 years old and live in the Netherlands with my husband and 3.5 year old son. I work as a youth policy maker for the municipality. I have been crafting all my life, but got into stamping and coloring in 2016. I mostly make greeting cards, with a little bit of scrapbooking on the side. I love cute images and making scene cards. Crafting really is my therapy and always brings me so much joy. Other hobbies include reading and watching films and series!

Happy New Year crafty friends! Peggy here with my first card guest designing for Newton’s Nook Designs. Instead of opting for Christmas cards only, I also decided to make some New Year’s cards this year. It’s a fun break from the red, gold and green color scheme and a great way to start the new year crafty!
I love making slimline cards and so my first guest card simply had to be one. You can use any slimline die set you own or simply cut a panel to size with a paper trimmer. I started by cutting two panels, a base (the one with the scallops) and a top panel. I used three shapes to make cut-outs in my top panel. These will make a nice place to highlight my colored images and stamped sentiment.Next, I took some texture paste and mixed in some silver paint. I covered the top panel with the Cascading Stars Stencil and used a palette knife to spread the paste evenly over the surface. I set the panel aside to dry. Seriously, don’t touch it for a good while :) (No it's not dry yet!)
I stamped my images from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set using alcohol marker friendly ink. I used the E50 copic marker series for the kitty on the left, Cool Greys for the glass and the kitty on the right and the E30 series on the puppy. The green is YG91 through YG97, yellow accents are Y21, Y00 and Y000, and blue accents B14 and B93.
After my texture paste had dried I used a stamp positioning tool to stamp the 'Let's Party' sentiment from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set into the cut-out in the middle of the panel. I adhered the top panel to the base with foam tape to give some dimension. Lastly, I adhered my images with both foam tape and liquid glue and used a white gel pen and some glossy accents for the finishing touch!
Hope you are inspired by my card! Sending long distance hugs!

A Duo of Birthday Cards by April Guest Designer Mugdha Gujarathi
I used Balloon shaker die for this card, you can use shaker dies in so many ways and not only for making shaker cards. I used a slimline panel of white cardstock and die cut out the big balloons from the Balloon Shaker Die Set, I also die cut the balloons of the vellum. I used polka dot pattern paper and adhered the white slimline panel on it, I then pasted the vellum balloons and stamped the sentiment "Happy Birthday" from Newton Celebrates stamp set. Lastly, adhered some sequins to finish off my card.
Here is my second card:
For this CAS masculine card, I used Birthday Roundabout stamp set. I stamped the beautiful image on black cardstock using versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger gold embossing powder and heat tool. I then die cut out the circle with the Circle Frames die set and adhered it on caramel brown cardstock using foam adhesive.
I stamped the sentiment "Happy birthday" on a strip of caramel brown paper and mounted it on the circle using foam adhesive. Lastly, I added some gold pearls to finish off my card.
I hope you like them.
Thank you so much for stopping by,
Mugdha

Mugdha here. I am so happy and excited to be Guest Designer at Newton's Nook for the month of April. Today, I am going to share a cute slimline Birthday card which I made using the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set and the Slimline Masking Circles and Squares Stencil Set.
Let's have a look!
I used Slimline Masking Square Stencils, Wilted violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks for background. I then adhered all the fussy cut images using foam adhesive tape.
Lastly, I adhered the entire slimline card panel on 8.5 inches to 3.5 inches folded card base.

Oink Trio of Birthday Cards by Ellen Haxelmans
Squeal! You'll Love with These Piggy Cards by Ellen!
Frames Squared Die Set.
If you like this splattered look on this little background piece, scroll to the end of this post for instructions on how to do this technique!
For the background she used our for the large scalloped border. She also cut out the stitched rectangle using our Frames & Flags Die Set and stenciled confetti on it using our Confetti Stencil.
- First apply your ink. It's best to use an ink that reacts with water like Distress ink or Oxide inks. I used Oxide inks. After that I used water. For this I use a mini mister with water. Take out the nozzle and tap with your finger on it. The water drops will fall on your paper. Wait till you see the ink reaction from the water and then dab wet areas away with a towel.
- You can do the same ‘tapping’ technique with white Dylusions White Linen ink. The only difference is that I heat it with my heat gun to dry.
- The last step is to apply a glimmer ink. For this I use Glitter Sprays are my favorite. After you sprinkled the ink, you dab the ink off with a towel.

Happy Birthday Floral Card by Ellen Haxelmans
Happy Birthday Flowers!
Here's a tip from her on how they were colored:
"I used my Copic Markers: for the brown I followed the curves with the markers E34 and E31. For the leaves I followed the grooves that the dies make when you cut them. I colored over these grooves with green YG05 and YG01."
What a gorgeous combination of die cut images for a special Birthday creation!
