VALHEIM'S FIRST PLAYER-MADE QUEST!

"They came up through the floorboards and were upon us! We fled to the main hall, set up barricades, but they were everywhere in no time... the Temple is fallen! Send reinforcements, we cannot hold them for long! --  Rolgrim, High Hofgath of Thor"

-  Note found on a Corpse near the Stones.

On the very edge of the Dark Forest, a short walk southeast of the Standing Stones, lies the great Temple of Thor, a massive structure dedicated to the Son of Odin. Thor's priests, the Hofgathi, have been slain and raised as Draugr by a powerful being; Thor's former worshippers, now also undead, roam the halls.

The Player is tasked with releasing Thor's Temple from this curse and restoring it to its former glory; the first player to reach the pinnacle shall be named the new High Hofgath and may do with the Temple as he or she wishes.

The Temple of Thor is a 100m tall free standing structure overrun with Undead, traps, secret doors, hidden passages, and untold treasures. If you make it to the highest point of the temple, the light of the morning sun will also reveal the location of Haldor, the merchant.

Once cleared, it would make an excellent player home. Recommended 100+ hps, Iron gear. Just ignore the whimpering of dogs you hear in the walls, their sacrifices were necessary.

Features:

  • A huge construction, stretching from sea-level to snow-level, with a huge open arena area and numerous twisty passages and rooms, secret doors, and deadly traps.
  • 100% Vanilla - No mods required, this despite the fact that it is over three times as high as the highest normal  build limit in Valheim.

When the player is not around, monsters will happily destroy furniture and stairways, making progress difficult if you do not move quickly. Given time they can, in fact, level huge sections of the place.
  • You have to keep moving to reach the pinnacle and declare yourself the new High Hofgathi.
  • Puzzles, riddles and clues reveal secret paths to riches and fame... or horrid death.
  • Monsters get tougher as you progress.
  • At the highest reachable point, the light of the morning sun will reveal the location of Haldor, the merchant. Assuming the monsters have not destroyed it, of course. Better hurry!
  • Rewards are generous but not game-breaking.
  • Non-monster version available for those who wish to just move in.
  • Created by Arodicus Snaux, author of the popular Fishing in Skyrim. Yes, I'm still around!

THIS MAP REQUIRES A HIGH END SYSTEM!!!
The Temple of Thor was designed to test the upper limits of what is possible with Valheim construction. I cannot stress this enough. To get a rough idea of if you can handle it at a playable speed, go in the black forest on any map and hit F2 - if you can hit 80fps+, you'll do just fine. If you are at least over 60fps, see below,  which shows how to get an immediate 30%+ speed boost.

Otherwise... well, enjoy my screenshots. =)
Installation:

Download your choice of the Iron-tier or spawnerless version... or both. Unzip contents into your Valheim save folder, usually located at C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds

Requirements

None, other than a fairly ballsy computer. The Temple is HUGE and will be taxing to some systems. If there is enough demand I may make a toned-down version for midranged rigs. (I am getting around 28-30fps on a  i9-9900K on a GTX 1660 Ti, still very playable).

This quick synopsis of RustyB3ans optimization guide will help performance, it gave me a good 30% fps boost:
