As of Tuesday, 18 November 2025, the paid service Nintendo Switch Online is now available. Enjoy a more fun and convenient gaming experience on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
In addition to online play for compatible games and access to classic games, Nintendo Switch Online also offers a dedicated music app for smartphones.

Here’s a brief introduction to some of the key services available with the Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Compete and cooperate online
With Nintendo Switch Online, you can enjoy online play with supported games such as Splatoon 3, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A, and the upcoming Kirby Air Riders. Connect via the internet to battle or cooperate with family and friends far away—or with players from around the world.
Nintendo Classics
On Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, you can enjoy a wide variety of games from past Nintendo consoles. With over 250 games available and more added regularly, there's always something new to discover. Some games support online play and local co-op play using the “Play while sharing” function, and convenient features like Suspend Points and Rewind make gameplay even smoother.
With a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can play games from classic consoles like Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and Nintendo Entertainment System. And with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, you’ll also enjoy access to Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 games. On Nintendo Switch 2, you can even experience games from the Nintendo GameCube.
* To play Nintendo Classics games from Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo 64, a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership is required.
Games exclusively for members
In addition to Nintendo Classics, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can also enjoy exclusive games like Tetris 99 and F-Zero 99.
Save Data Cloud
Save data for supported games is automatically backed up via the internet and securely stored. Even in the event of unexpected issues, save data for supported games is automatically backed up via the internet and securely stored. Your backed-up save data can be downloaded anytime, on any console. (Save data backed up on Nintendo Switch can also be downloaded to Nintendo Switch 2.)
GameChat (Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2)
If you own a Nintendo Switch 2, you can use the GameChat feature to hear your friends’ voices and share your gameplay screen.
* GameChat is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and is not available on Nintendo Switch.
* To share video through GameChat requires the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera (sold separately) or other compatible USB camera.
* GameChat is available for free to all players, even those without a Nintendo Switch Online membership—until Tuesday, 31 March 2026. After this period, a Nintendo Switch Online membership will be required to continue using the feature. For more details, please visit this page.
Listen to game music
With the Nintendo Music app for smartphones, you can enjoy your favorite Nintendo game music anytime, anywhere.

Expand your play with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
By becoming a member of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, you’ll gain access to Nintendo Classics games from Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64. And if you're using Nintendo Switch 2, you can also enjoy games from the Nintendo GameCube.
If you own Nintendo Switch games The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom you can enjoy the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition at no additional cost.
Moreover, if you own titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, or Splatoon 2, you’ll be able to access paid DLC without any extra charges.
