This document contains an activity sheet and quiz about the skeletal system. The activity sheet instructs students to observe a chicken leg under dissection and identify the bones, cartilage, ligaments, joints, and synovial fluid. It then asks several guided questions about the structure and function of these parts and how they work together in the skeletal system. The quiz contains multiple choice questions testing knowledge of the muscles, tissues, and joints that enable movement in the human body.

III.

Procedure 1. Familiarize yourself with the parts of the chicken leg as compared to the illustration of the skeletal system 2. 3. 4. Get the chicken leg and carefully remove the muscles (meat) until bones are exposed. Examine and feel the texture of the bone, cartilage, ligament and the synovial fluid. Observe.

Guided Questions 1. What are the different parts of the chicken legs skeletal system? 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. How cracked parts are looks as if they are linked together and related? How does the materials at the end of each bones feel? Why does your finger feel oily after touching the end of the bones? Why is the fluid in the joints important? Describe how each part work together? How are you going to relate your observation on the function of the human skeletal system?
