April 16, 2013 To: Whom It May Concern From: Ronald Santoro Re: Bryan Curran Recently Bryan

Curran, a student of mine at Emerson College, asked me to provide a recommendation for him in support of his application to work. I am delighted to provide a letter on his behalf at this time. Bryan is a student in my Graduate Level Course, Directing Young Actors. And although he is still an undergraduate, he was recommended to take the course by the director of the Graduate Program in Theatre Education, Professor Robert Colby. I have worked with Bryan since the beginning of the semester and have been impressed with his dedication to the work of the class in developing and using non-traditional directing techniques with young actors. Its clear to me that Bryan is not only capable of graduate level work, but in fact is energetically applying the concepts hes learning to his own teaching and directing work as a student teacher. Hes clearly intelligent and dedicated to his class work as well as to his outside work as a student teacher. I have seen some of his lesson plans and the results of his classroom practice and I am impressed that this young person has such ability and enthusiasm for working with young students. Hes careful and precise in his written and oral work and his direction is right on target as he works with his peers to discover what lies beneath the written words of a script. I particularly enjoy his confidence in trying new things, his clarity in communicating with his actors and his pleasant and supportive manner of giving feedback and direction. I am confident that Bryan Curran will carry these qualities to whatever institution hires him.

Bryan is the type of student that a teacher learns from as well as teaches, and that mutual ability to learn at the same time as one is instructing is a strong indicator to me of a potentially outstanding teacher/director. I imagine that you will be as delighted to work with Bryan Curran as I have been this semester and I have no doubt that he will not disappoint you. If I were in a position to hire Bryan, I would do so without hesitation. If you need any other information in support of Bryan Currans application I would be happy to provide it. My e-mail address is: santoro243@gmail.com and my cell phone number is: 978-4952621. Thank you for your attention to this letter on Bryans behalf.
