$3 day was so much fun and everyone looked so cute! "ur new behavior focus is on what it means to be responsible. 4t school we will focus on being responsible with our time making sure that when it is time to dress for recess that we are getting ready 1uickly rather than visiting and walking around. !aking sure that when we start a task that we get started right away. &t also means taking care of our materials, and putting things in their proper space when we are done with them. 5eing responsible also means doing our best. "nce we get close to meeting our goal, we will decide on a special celebration again.
100)s *ay Mat! Fun
Thursday was our 100th day of school. This is a big deal in kindergarten as it gives us a good reason to practice our counting and number sense. We had a lot of fun counting out ten groups of ten stickers, fruit loops, snack items, exercises, and much more! Thank you to the parents that participated with sending items in as well as helping on our special day. ext week we will finish up our !ath "lympics with a medal ceremony on #riday!

This week*s new sight word was are. +ave your child sing you the new sight word song. #or word work, we have begun work with wor sli ers. Word sliders reveal a one letter of a word ,or later word chunks- at a time until the whole word is revealed. +!e "ur"ose is to "ra%ti%e t!e rea ing strategy o, looking t!roug! t!e w!ole wor , an ,luen%y &-ui%kly(. & begin rather slowly with simple ./. words like cat, pet. 0ach word has a picture that matches at the end to check it we are correct with our word. & will begin to reveal letters 1uicker ,fluency- and then move in to more challenging words with word chucks, bl,fl, ch, sh2 ing, ed, er2etc.

This week finished up our $enguin books and shared them with !iss Talimonte%s second grade class. &t was great to see the second graders share their non'fiction writing pro(ects as well. &t was a great learning experience for all and all children did a great (ob sharing their work. !any children brought their $enguin books home last week, while some were still putting on the finishing touches. )ou should see your child%s book come home !onday for sure.

Writers Works!o"# More $on-Fi%tion
ext week we will shift gears with our non'fiction writing from a science theme to a social studies theme. "ur focus will be on 4merica and the symbols that represent the 6nited 7tates. Through reading many non'fiction texts, together we will make note of new facts. &ndependently, children will choose two to three facts about each symbol to write about in their 4merican symbols book.

The love bug classroom will be welcoming !ystery Ceaders each #riday from the beginning of !arch through !ay. 4 sign up will be on /olunteer 7pot soon. &f you would like to be a !ystery Ceader in our room, you will be asked to provide four clues as to who you are. & will share one clue a day and on #riday we will see if we can guess who will be reading to the class! 4ny favorite children%s book will work and & have many to offer it you need a suggestion. &%ve even had 4unts, Hrandparents, siblings come in as !ystery Ceaders before2even one via 7kype!
