Stop Walkergate Plan Petition

A petition has been started to prevent the proposed development of a site in Berwick into new offices. The document argues that the development would not benefit the long-term prosperity of the town and demonstrates a lack of vision. It suggests instead turning the site into a coach park with facilities for tourists, which would bring more money into the local economy. The document calls for people to sign the petition to stop the planning application from moving forward.

STOP

the Walkergate Plan

A petition has been set up to try to prevent the proposed development
of the Kwik Save site on Walkergate, Berwick.
We believe the proposal to develop the site to create new offices to
relocate an existing company and NCC:
1. Is of no benefit to the longterm prosperity of the town. Once built on, this
land is lost as an opportunity to truly help regenerate Berwick.
2. Demonstrates a lack of visionhas ARCH really explored what Berwick needs?
3. Makes no consideration for the future of the offices at present in usethey
will become empty and probably remain unused for many years.
The site is an eyesore but we suggest the creation of a viable coach park with
toilet facilities and tourist information panels would be a relatively low-cost and
easily modifiable alternative that would bring thousands more people with
disposable income into the town each year.
These proposals have to be stopped before the planning application is
submitted.

STOP WALKERGATE PLAN
We, the undersigned wish to stop the proposed plans for the development of
the Kwik Save site in Walkergate, Berwick-upon-Tweed.
We believe that ARCH and NCC have demonstrated a lack of vision; the
proposal to develop the site for office space to relocate an existing company
and Northumberland County Council offices is of no benefit to the long term
prosperity of the town.
The site is an eyesore but we suggest a relatively low-cost and easily modifiable
alternative that would bring thousands more people with disposable income into the
town each year, would be the creation of a viable coach park with toilet facilities and
tourist information panels.
These proposals have to be stopped before the planning application is submitted.
Please sign the petition.
