Monday
The Arrival - Everything went well with the Danish, French and the Turkish
people. But it was very messy with the Spanish people, we thought they were
supposed to arrive at Tuesday but we got a late call on Monday evening.
Tuesday
Welcome ceremony A fun morning with a warm welcome-ceremony, a short
speech from the headmaster, a few songs from the choir, ping-pong and a guided
tour around the school. Everyone were very excited about getting to know each
other.
Ostindiefararen A guided tour. The guides were very good and spoke
interesting and fluently. We could see the whole ship. We also walked around in
Eriksberg and took the boat lvsnabben in Gta lv to the other side.
Guided tour around Gothenburg Maybe not the best tour. It was chaotic since
only one person had prepared the guided tour, none of the Swedish people
except one knew what to say and no one was listening. Eventually, we had to
split up in 6 groups because it was impossible to do anything as one big group.
We also decided to go to 4-gott and IKEA when we had our freetime in the
evening. Later after we had dinner at IKEA, we played football and watched a
movie at Johans house together, an amazing day since we got to know
eachother so well, just during one day.
Wednesday
Cooking Group 4, 5, 6 started with cooking. We did recipes as Quish Lorraine,
Tortilla de Potata, ricepudding, saffranbread, gingerbread, Danish peppernuts,
bulgur and rootbeat salad. We also did a few interviews, took a lot of pictures
and recorded the cooking. It was very fun!
Visiting lessons We visited 3 lessons each group (1, 2, 3 started). We had
different opinions about this, some could take part in the lessons and some were
only allowed to watch during the lessons. Most people thought it was quite
boring.
Visit at the cityhall We thought it was quite okay but a bit boring. It was
exciting since no one had been there before, we didnt even know Gothenburg
had a mayor.
Nobel party We had a Nobel party at school. We prepared the dinner and each
group got different tasks to do. We sat in our groups around small tables and ate
what we cooked earlier. We also listened to the top 10 lists, but we never
listened to Spain. Everyone got nobel prices during the evening (except the
Swedish). We thought the night was cozy but a bit boring to be stuck in our
grups, and also a bit boring to be quiet for so long during the top 10 lists. The
teachers were quite strict that night. After the Nobel party, we had free time so
we went playing football all together and had a fun night.
Thursday
Brnn We started the morning with meeting at the central station. The bus
was 30 minutes late so it was a long and cold time to wait. Then we took the
ferry to Brnn and had lunch at Brnn vrldshus. We got vegetables salmon,
mashed potato and mushroom sauce for lunch. We all loved the food but the stay
at Brnn was quite boring but cozy. We stayed there a few hours before we
took the ferry back to the city again, when everyone had free time.
Liseberg We met at the entrance at 16 and bought tickets. We went ice-skating
(even though the ice was really slippery and wet), watched the ice-show, that
was amazing, and had a lot of fun. Everyone split up during the evening and did
different things. Everyone had a great time together, it was the last night. At the
end of the evening, we took a big group photo with everyone and screamed
ATOPE, which means powerful in Spanish.
Friday
Lucia celebration We watched the lucia celebration at school and ate luciacats,
gingerbread and drank julmust (no one liked it though). Then we had to say
goodbye, so we were hugging eachother for 20 minutes and some were crying. It
was very emotional. The Spanish people stayed one more day, so we were in
school, dancing and laughing a few hours, then we had lunch at Pizza Hut. Later,
we went to Kajsas and Emilias house and the rest of the evening was spent at
Josefines house. We made dinner together (tacos) and had a party the entire
night. The last people left at midnight.
Saturday
The Spanish people stayed, we started the morning with celebrating a Spanish
boy who had his birthday the next day. Then we all met in the city before it was
time to say goodbye to them as well. We all cried sooooo much.
As a brief summary, the week was amazing and the guests enjoyed their stay
here in Gothenburg. We were all very pleased with our guests and the strong
connection that we created. We had a great time together even beyond the
scheduled activities. It was a bit hard going by bus all the time, since they often
were late. We had a struggle being on time to for example the Central station. A
little too much time were spent on the bus trips. Over all, it was a successful trip
that we all enjoyed.
