Step 1 Draw a line diagonally, corner to corner, across the back of each of your yellow squares. This is your
stitching line. (If you are comfortable stitching accurately point to point by eye, you can skip this step)
Step 2 Position a yellow square on the top left corner of one of the white squares.
Stitch from corner to corner along your line, as indicated in the diagram.
Trim the seam on the yellow fabric to inch, but leave the white square whole. Finger
press seam to the yellow, being careful not to distort your fabric.
Step 3 Repeat Step 2 with the opposite corner, then
the other two corners to complete the unit.
Make three more units for a total of four.
Completed unit should measure 1 square, the points of the white centre diamond each from the corresponding edge.
Step 4 Sew each yellow rectangle to a white one along the long edge. Carefully
finger press seams to the yellow fabric.
OR If using strips, sew the yellow to the white along the length. Carefully press
seam to the yellow. Cross-cut pieced strip into 1 squares. A little extra length is allowed for adjustments if needed.
Completed units should measure 1 square.
