Porosity is defined as the percentage of void space within a material's total volume. It is calculated by dividing the total volume of pore space by the total volume of the material, then multiplying by 100. Alternatively, porosity can be calculated by dividing the total volume minus the volume of grains by the total volume, then multiplying by 100.
