UNIT ONE Being a Guardian
Become familiar with the unit; work at understanding the flow of events & time management.
Work with your Educator & Preceptor for one-three shifts with modified pt assignment.
Theoretical Framework: Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate
patient care. Recognize changes in patient condition and intervene effectively
NPSG Focus: Goal 1- Improve Accuracy of Patient Identification; Goal 2- Effective Communication Among Care Givers;
Goal 9- Reduce Risk of Harm from Falls
Nursing Process: Assessment, Plan of Care, Fall Protocol, Critical Values, Time Management
OBJECTIVES:
Shadow preceptor; observe time mgmt and critical thinking skills
Participate in Bedside Reporting; discuss Plan of Care for all patients
Demonstrate physical assessment skills and chart thorough assessments. (Patients will belong to the preceptor
but should be assessed by both the Preceptor and Preceptee so that the Preceptor can observe the Preceptees

UNIT TWO Being a Healer
Work with a Preceptor (one-three shifts with modified patient assignment
